Just a heads up, I noticed that a new patch alert was given through GFWL in my GTA IV which was already updated to the latest so I am guessing this is patch number 5.
It was not just a simple patch, the actual game has been updated. More information can be found here, I will post back if I notice any changes after game play.

Sweet, looks like TLAD DLC will be released soon.
-
nice, thx mate. I gunna download it now, see if anything changes. SLI support perhaps!?? lol, ya right. every developer lies nowadays.
-
Great to hear The Lost and Damned DLC is coming to the PC version, considering how much disdain Microsoft has for the PC.
Now when will The Ballad of Gay Tony come? -
Eh, I think I'll skip this update. No performance or visual enhancements, controls are fine for me, and I don't play multiplayer, so I don't see the need.
Was also hoping for SLi support and AA. -

^^^Im surprised that wasnt part of the update..........
-
Maybe in the next patch performance will be more of an issue than controls..... -
Umm, isn't this supposed to be 1.0.5.0?

probably because not many have the game
-
There working on Lost and Damned for PC right now. How about a patch so you don't need s CD/DVD to play.
-
Maybe Microsoft will open up and bring Gears of War 2, Fable 2, Alan Wake, etc. to the PC as well? -

Going to be playing GTA 4 on my newly received ThinkPad T61p soon, thought about using a decent torrent but i am just going to buy it since the whole game is about 13.33-14.55GB, which is about half my monthly download alotment. I also figured that since the healthytorrent i wanted to use was of Russian origin, i would be too lazy to use regedit to change the language. It states on GTA forums that this patch does contain performance tweaks, which will be much appreciated for mid-range cards like the one in my T61p.

GTA 4 PC does support SLi. It was added in the 3rd patch I believe. As to how well it works, I don't know..
I'm excited to see those TLAD achievements in the list. I hear it's an awesome expansion. I hope it's real. -

The Euphoria physics engine is great for gun fights. It adds so much immersion to the gameplay. Unfortunately, that same engine is extremely daunting on the CPU (not to mention buggy), as we've all experienced...

There are also some mods that increases the speed and handling of a lot of the cars which makes police chases a lot more fun too.
As for performance, I get a max of 40 fps, a constant 34 fps and occasionally the frames drop to 25 fps but very quickly back up to 30 -33 fps during police chases.
I have everything on high apart from water, native res (1680 X 1050) and View Distance 32, Detail Distance 28, Vehicle Density 31 and Shadow Density 1.
As you know, this game is very heavy on the resources so I don't know what sort of performance you would get on the Thinkpad. I thought your Thinkpad model had one of those Quadro GPU's as opposed to a gaming one. -

It does, but it's the exact same transistor for transistor as the 8600M GT, just needs modified drivers from "laptopvideo2go.com". That card is/was midrange at the time so i'm assuming with the latest patches GTA 4 should be very much playable on it. My 15.4" T61p is WUXGA+ so it's very hard on the eyes and pretty sure i couldn't play native res on it. I will undervolt the CPU and apply fresh thermal compound such as Arctic Silver 5 to the CPU and GPU. I want to minimize the GPU failure as much as possible, which was quite prevalent in the G84 based cores.

And it is actually supposed to be 1.0. 5.0. -
I am Going to be playing GTA 4 on my newly received sonyvio notebook. I am using a decent torrent but i am just going to buy it since the whole game is about 13.33-14.55GB. I am downloading the games and movies a lot. I love both the things. Thank you.

If I create a system restore point before updating, can I restore to it after updating if performance is worse?
Or will I have to reinstall the game? -
The performance on this latest patch does not appear to adversely affect performance for me. I mean, it affects it in a negative way when I start to fool around with graphics settings...
-
You might find you get worse performance after the patch because for me, it reset all of my graphic settings to the default as opposed to my real tweaked settings.

Is there any SLI patch available for GTA IV?
-
the graphic setting is still locked at medium on my laptop with 8800GTS

So,any drivers out which allows that?
-
Pretty sure it's 180.84; those are the official GTA IV optimized ones.
Edit: Sorry, those are the desktop drivers; not sure if it will work with mobile cards. -

Can anyone confirm drivers which enables SLI?

Oh, I thought it was 180.84, wasn't sure though. Thank you very much Soviet Sunrise.

Also how can I enable SLI? Is it working with the notepad stuff or an option in the game? -
-
spradhan01 Notebook Virtuoso
So how you do you turn SLI on with 180.84?
Also a link for 180.84 would be great. -
Thinking about buying this game, its on D2D for 19.99. I'm just wondering what kind of performance I can expect to have with it on the laptop in my sig (np 8662).

This question should really have gone in the sticky "Can My Notebook Run It". -
I have just been testing a few mods out (Police, Taxi, Random missions, LCPD Mod) and since many only worked with the previous patch 1.040, I went back to that. Now that I am back on 1.0.04 again I am absolutely amased at the difference in performance.
For me, patch 1.0.04 has really increased my frame rate, made it much more smooth and stable and one of my graphic mods (Realizm IV 6.2) also runs much better now.
Before I was thinking perhaps it was just a placebo effect but now I am 100% certain that it was not.
By the way, I noticed some one has done their own unofficial DLC lol. The community never ceases to amase. Some how they have managed to get the Lost And The Damned DLC working on the PC but hopefully an official version will be released soon anyway. -

the philosophy "my games need to run always at max settings or i will never be happy playing them" comes into play here then eh? GTA 4 isn't that power hungry for christs sakes.
-
The patch came out over 17 days so with "The Lost and Damned" achievements showing up and still no official announcement?
