I've been reading the forums for a couple of days now and based on what I've read I have decided on the following purchase:

    Sager 5720-V
    17" WUXGA Glossy LCD
    Pentium M-760 2Ghz 533Mhz
nVIDIA GeForce Go 7800 GTX w/GDDR3
    2048MB 533DDR2 Memory
    80GB 7200 SATA drive
    Dual Layer DVD combo drive
    Windows XP Professional

What's the life expectancy of the above machine with all the future technology coming out (ie. Dual-Core, true 64-bit, Vista)? Hopefully, more than 2 years.

Also, has anyone used the DVI connector to a HD TV? I have a 51" HD that I wouldn't mind seeing how some of the games look. The XBOX games are great, but ...

One last question: Are there enough gaming gadgets out there that warrant me getting Bluetooth on this machine?

Thanks for any responses in advance.

    Almost there.

Well about hooking it up to your HDTV...I would recommend that you get the DVI-D to HDMI cable...it is one of the best ways you can hook up a computer to a TV. Buy it online though at the stores it is $100+.

Bluetooth is just an option for like wireless mice etc. It is nice if you have a wireless mouse without the USB adapter sticking out the side. They are not too expensive so I would say it is a personal preference.

I think those new comps will last at least 2-3 years.

Well, for Bluetooth, there are headphones, mice, and gamepads. PS3s controls will be Bluetooth, if you plan on getting one, you may use it with your laptop also. It would be useful for having four people wirelessly playing on your computer. Mine comes with bluetooth and so far the only thing I use it for is to synch my calendar with my cellphone, but I do plan on getting a headset and a mouse later on. There are also digital cameras with Bluetooth, but I haven't seen one yet.

    Thanks zicky,

There are a lot more things out there using Bluetooth than I thought. I will throw down the extra $50 for it.

    Almost there.

I believe my 51" TV has both DVI and HDMI connectors. I have to see how I'm hooking up the XBOX, since I was planning on using the cable that I already have. I believe it just may be a DVI to HDMI cable, since my satellite box is straight DVI.

I guess the PS3 sold him the bluetooth. It definitely sold it to me, hahaha. Take into account that since it's not released yet, no one knows if the controls will work on computers for sure, there may be some tweaking to do. Also remember that you can always buy an external bluetooth too. Remember that you can connect up to 7 devices at the same time with bluetooth.

I also did a scan and noticed several keyboards that are bluetooth also. My couch is across the room, so don't want any unsightly cables across the floor, if I can help it.

Yeah, forgot about the keyboards, there are also bluetooth printers. On a long term, I'm planning to have all accessories wireless and bluetooth seemed like the better choice.
