I saw on the review for the new macbook pro it has only 100 less on 3DMark 06 vs the Dell XPS M1710.. I find that having only 100 points difference is misleading. So I'm just making sure the 7900GTX blows away the 8600GT in real world gaming right and the MBP is not as graphically powerful as 3DMark06 says?

that benchmark was done at 1024x768, the 7900gtx was done at 1280x1024. shouldn't be compared like that, but a very easy mistake to make.

Very true. A 7900gtx should have no trouble passing the 5000 mark in 3dmark06 when benched at 1024x768. The 8600GT does not compare to a 7900gtx

I assume you're talking about the 15.4" version of the Macbook Pro? In that case, it's like comparing apples and oranges because the M1710 is a 17" laptop. The current Go 7900GTX/Go 7950GTX in the M1710 easily blows away the 8600M GT. And, later this summer, the 8800M GTX will be available, which will definitely put the 8600M GT and Go 7950GTX to shame.
