Hi, for those who don't know this, the new ATI Mobility Catalyst 6.8 is out!! Does anyone have any experience with this? Do any of you's use this? If so, is it any better than the Mobility Catalyst 6.7?

    Thanks, Daniel

im pretty sure the mobility drivers are the same as the desktop with some extra options / optimizations for battery life.

that said, im checking out FEAR multiplayer which was released for free, and i wasnt happy with performance on 6.7, enough so that i was going to give up on it, but 6.8 did a miracle job on that game, making it not only playable, but really smooth and fast.

according to ati, 6.8 gives performance increase of up to 25% on d3d applications, and i will attest that is true in FEAR, and i would expect similar results with other d3d games.

its a pretty good idea to update your drivers anyway

    go for it

    Hey Juz_follow_ati,
I have to be honest with you the new 6.8's are just simply amazing, i think they are the best set of drivers since the 6.3's. With the 6.3's i had and amazing 3dmark05 score of 3000+ plus but up until 6.7's i did not notice a performance increase just a score decrease anyways with the 6.8's i get a 3dmak05 score of about 3300+ with my mr x700 and 1287 in 3dmark06. But mind you it states 6.7 in control panel for some odd reason its 6.8's though.

    Happy FRaggin

Are you using ATI Tray to overclock? I haven't been able to overclock with any drivers over 6.3. Those are some great scores for 3DMark. I get around 3,300 OC'ed in '05 and a hair over 1k in '06 @ 410:400 core:mem.

    Hey Chaz,
I have been using RADLINKER to overclock because i knew that i would run into problems with ATI Tray, its been working wonderfully. And Chaz my mem is higher than my core, this was discussed in a much earlier thread with you coriolisis and ikovak.

    Cheers

i have downloaded the drivers at the direct link from the update drivers page. And noticed a image quality upgrade.

But on the other hand, just before the ATi tray bar loads the screen goes black for a few seconds.
