The 9700gt has 256 eh? That explains the big performance difference. Still will likely opt for the 9600gt GDDR3 for the lower power output.

    9700m GTS has a 256-bit memory interface

The 9700m GT is still a 128-bit memeory interface.

    Nvidia goofy naming conventions FTW.

    >.> I don't see how its snobbish, theres nothing high end about the 9600m gt. As for the title I think your right, it should say something along the lines of "High end 9000 series".

    ok, thats fair enough.

but in that case the thread title should be changed. i can imagine people trawling through here for info on the 9600GT as its gonna be a popular card.

imagine thier surprise when they see a discussion on the size of peoples e-peen instead

    :D

Haha, well the 9600m GT is a great performance card, I'm sure. And yes, the title should be named "Nvidia 9 Series High End GPU's", or include all 9 series GPU's.

The 9600M GT would be the same as 9500GT on desktop, while 9800M GTS is the same as 9600GT on the desktop.. so much of the name "9800" to be very misleading
