Hows the actual game. I have been watching some youtube videos and it looks kind of boring. Very similar to WoW and WoW was great for a few years but I got tired of it. Also the graphics honestly do not look too great to me, they may be a higher quality but the atmosphere and environment just didnt feel all that good to me.
Even with the by todays standards of graphics WoW is low quality, when you go thru the middle of darkshire and south to the forest area with the lakes and tree's it was very immersive and absorbed you into the game.
Trailer was cool tho, I liked the dark sorceress & the elves. -
I am in the Closed Beta at the moment, and the NDA was just released. I have only participated in low level content, but it’s awesome. It is like WoW, but to be honest you can compare any MMO to each other. The classes are extremely different than WoW, and there are going to be 20 classes on release. The game is all about PvP really. At level one you can participate in PvP called Scenarios, which are like Battlegrounds in WoW, and you can also participate in RvR, which is world PvP. There are objectives like capture the keep or destroy this settlement and you get experience for doing it. There are siege weapons you build on the keeps or to attack them and you actually man them, and if you beat the opposing faction in the RvR for the territory you take complete control of the area. Once you take control all of the territories in a certain area you can then siege the capital city of a certain race. Its great! The PvP in this game is not like a seperate aspect its all intertwined. Everyone participates in it. Just by doing quests or killing creatures you gain points toward your faction. You can choose RvR or not to, and its up to the player. They don't discourage people who don't like PvP.
There are 40 levels of PVE and then 80 levels of PVP. You level both though and get experience for both by either PvPing or PvEing. Certain skills are earned though PvP and others PvE it’s all intertwined. There are instances just like WoW and Tier sets for gear, and the armor straight from Level 1 looks awesome. By the time your level 10 you already look like your distinct class not like all casters use this level 20 blue staff or w/e. The leveling definitely takes longer than WoW. I could reach 10 in WoW in about 2-3 Hours. It took me about 6 Hours to get to 10. Mounts are added in at level 20, and they are race specific.
The interface is completely customizable. You can change the size and layout of anything in the game. The quests are enjoyable, and for the PVE folk there are things called Public Quests which are basically taking the whole instance idea out to everyone. There will be a set area for a Public Quest where in Stage One everyone has to kill these specific creatures. Stage II you have to destroy the buildings, and Stage III you have to kill the boss. It’s not a quest you pickup from an NPC, but instead anyone gets it who is just in the vicinity. It encourages community and cooperation early on, and for participating in them you get something called Influence which is basically reputation. You can then use the Influence to earn gear and if you healed the most or did the most damage you get to take a bag from the giant chest after you finish the last stage of the Public Quest, which contains rare gear or money.
Graphics are amazing! They are hands down better than WoW's. The game is much more realistic. There is no cartoony look to things, and the shading and detail are great. It is not a game like AoC, which is a technical power house, but instead like WoW where there was a lot of detail put into the graphics to make things look fantastic. It looks great to me.
I want to tell all the people out there that say Warhammer is a copy of WoW that I heard rumor way back in the 90s that Games Workshop (Creator of Warhammer) contacted Blizzard Entertainment for them to make a RTS for them. It went two years into development and then was cancelled. Instead of abandoning the project Blizzard turned it into a little game called Warcraft. All of the ideas got transferred over. Warhammer has been around since the 80s! I mean look at starcraft and the Warhammer 40,000 Universe. They are pretty similar. You have Space Marines, Tyranids (Zerg), and Protoss which are kind of like the Eldar. Look at the mechs in Starcraft they are a complete copy! I mean correct me if I am wrong, but the similarities are just too big.
Great game though. It will be the next MMO I play for awhile! I quit WoW last summer. -

If they do the free trial deal like WoW I will check it out, otherwise I think I will pass.
I do not like retail wow it takes too long to do things especially high level where you need hours of time in a single chunk to form a raid and get organized wiating on people, then waiting for more people, then when the first couple of people leave, waiting for replacment people. Having some a hole on vent trying to tell everybody what to do.
After the 6 hour massicare that caused you to grow 2 grey hairs and not eat dinner, and you kill the first 3 bosses in MC, the first two dont drop any of the loot you need and the 3rd one just got stolen/ninjad or you got out rolled by somebody who already has it or just joined or something along those lines.
I still play now and then on a private server for fun. But no more level/gear grind for me. If i takes longer to level in this game that may suck for me unless it can be easily soloed in my down time, but the pvp aspect should mean that I can play just for a short while if thats all the time I have without any major losses. -
There is minimum of grinding because the final so call grinding is realm vs. realm. As for gears, WAR using a special rolling loot system and will only drop items you will want i.e. you won't get some purple items that no one in the group can use. Btw, WAR's PvE isn't weak either and it is nice that Mythics keep the group for almost all dungeons to SIX people not a freaking raid group. There is only one encounter require 24 which is the king encounter but you have to knock down your enemies' gate (realm vs realm) before you can gain access to the ultimate (P v E). Yea, I am in the CE beta...I don't think any of the MMOs came out this nicely done even a month before release date.
KockM, how's your Alienware works on WAR...I need a new notebook for WAR...especially during siege if you have done it in beta.
New Warhammer Cinematic!
