I'm waiting for the patch that is going to be released with the enhanced edition of the Witcher, which updates the original edition to the enhanced edition. Patch 1.2 works fine for me at the moment.

Same here. I've shelved Witcher until the enhanced edition gets released. I was falling asleep at the keyboard at times waiting for load screens to finish.

I'm waiting till the enhanced version is released to purchase the game. It looks cool, but I like things that are REALLY patched before buying them.

I'm about half way. Waiting for a patch as I crash to desktop every 2 to three hours.

I hear ya signal2noise, long game loads can be brutal. Oblivion and now Mass Effect have spoiled me. I'll try the newest patch when time permits.

I also set this game aside and am looking forward to the enhanced version. No matter what I do the game crashes every hour or so and after reading that the dialog and story is going to be re-worked since it was apparently cut down to make the release date I'm not gonna bother with this patch but thanks for the news.

It did. But I think there's still room for improvement.

Stopped a few months back, like most people I'm waiting for the enhanced edition.

The latest patch hasn't completely resolved all crash problems (generally memory related) but most minor problems have been solved and the add-on scenario isn't half bad at telling a story. It's also reasonably difficult if you don't pick the right skills at the beginning and don't spend a bit of cash for alcohol.

So I was browsing a game store today and found The Witcher used for $3.99, I recognized the game from this thread and naturally I couldn't pass a deal like that up. Is it consensus that I should wait to play it until some of the other issues are solved? Any tips?

Patch the game then use the /bcd command line tip as recommended on the game forums. Should eliminate almost all crashes.
