Well this hasn't been the first time Kotick has been a real . I had completely forgot about him after first reading about him a couple months back on Gamespot and his move to really make the gaming business alot more about the money that already is now. Makes me glad to be a faithful PC gamer. Here devs can be as renegade as they want.

yeah most people don't like him but you got to give him the credit for the uprising of Activision, which i don't know if it's a good thing frankly.

Well, I'm already not buying MW2, why not just ditch Activision-Blizzard altogether.

*cancels his WoW subscription*, no joke (though I was planning to cancel for university anyway xD)

If you have a Gucci / Bugatti Product.. you can charge whatever you want..

Here is where Mr. Idiot Box will run himself and the company down..

If he does not respect and in fact Love! the talent.. as well as pay the talent and promote new hiring of even better talent.. then he will be a passing Fad with a Golden Parachute..

The best way to control an Idiot CEO is to tie his earings to a futures call of stock.. if he gets a 5 year contract.. and hits his production numbers.. then he can cash in all of his options... in year 6.. this is the stick.. $14m in pay for one year off someone elses art.. anny bean counter can forecast.. but the reality of providing the market with a viable, palatable excuse to spend money year in and out..

Blend his compensation over the 5 years and once again he can collect in year 6..

I bet he would run the company a LOT! differently and treat the talent a little better.. which to us would mean better products to play with.

I am happy to pay more for a great game.. but this guys greed will ruin the talent base providing me my games.

    IMHO.

    Be well all, JW

Believe it or not, good (I mean from the persective of the consumer) CEOs exist. This guy goes beyond the profit margin and is just plain disrespectful. What a nightmare it must be to be a dev under him.

I really was going to buy MW2. As soon as servers went, so did my preorder. I know most people wont stay away from it, their priciples aren't strong enough...but you will regret it...the same company who gets rid of dedicated servers and talks like this WONT have good support...at least for a reasonable price.

BOYCOTT THIS CRAP, I emplore you!

I Love MW in all forms.. and I can afford whatever the Idiot Box would ask.. but the fact that he will in fact harm the Franchise, The Employee's who build for him and thus the stock price which includes a LOT more people who depend on him to perform better than the 3 year old ego maniac he is being..

I am not buying.. I hope the board gets the message.

    Sincerely, JW

seems that the biggest problems with modern warfare 2 are going to be post release...

    what is this nonsense?

this is certainly the beginning of the end of activision blizzard. modern warfare 2 is the beginning of the sell out strategy, but this beast has so much momentum behind it that it won't die right away.

nevertheless, 2 years from now, when we are sitting on modern warfare 5 with map packs out our ***es, we will have a totally different opinion and finally get the collective will to boycott these guys for real.

but right now, people are going to get milked.

I told myself to skip on MW2 about two months ago. The current situation is only confirming and supporting my position. At that point though, I was about just getting off the bandwagon, realizing MW2 isn't that special of a game, and I chose not to associate with a game that makes PC gamers an afterthought, though IW sure as hell knows we are still a large market (despite the piracy debacle CoD4 still sold upwards of 1 million box retail copies on the PC IIRC).

    I don't hate MW2, I'm just going to skip it because I wasn't impressed with CoD4.

That and I was pissed CoD4 was still selling for $60 two years later.

This CEO really pisses me off. I would actually buy Modern Warfare 2 if it wasnt for this . (i do like the game) Instead im actually just boycotting all Activision games (until he gets fired or they hit 20 dollars or less). Saves me some money and instead i can actually support good companies like valve. he pisses me off as both a consumer and (hopefully) a future video game developer.

I'm more of a single-player kinda guy than anything (liked the campaign/gameplay in COD4 enough to throw down for MW2). However, I do recognize the much, much larger MP following the franchise has.

Continued missteps by Activision and flagrant displays of arrogance by it's CEO will only alienate more of these loyal customers/gamers and serve to dig a deeper grave for those at the top.

I remember when Activision wasn't even worth a sidebar. Now they're the biggest video game corporation out there.

edit: Also, this is not MW2 related.
