I realize this news is almost a month old but as I try to keep up with these things, I know some others might not have heard yet either.
TWO WORDS, BOTH ACRONYMS...
KOTOR MMO

My nerd geekage level is skyrocketing. I so badly want to pwn some little WoW kiddie in a KOTOR MMO...

the over flodding of MMO's is getting a bit bad. there are a bit too many out now. It's a cool concept as KOTOR was awesome, but i don't find it freak out worthy.

yea...I think there should be a limit of MMo's. Especially since the more people you have playing one (Wow), the less people you have left to play another (kotor) or others. MMO's are usually ultimatly exclusive. Once you become addicted to one, you don't play the others very often. Why would you? Some of them really prevent you from having any time to enjoy the good games

For the record, I will be one of the 654974318746974 Sith Marauders with double bladed lightsabers. I might even name it something original like Darth Southpaw.
-
why not get really original and name it, "Darth Southmaul"?
i might perhaps get the trial for this game should one come out. i don't want to get sucked into a blackhole of gaming though. -
Im not excited about this one bit, they would have been mroe successful had they finished the story, that would have been one hell of third installment, and the Uknown Regions were never really gone through in detail , so they have alot to work with.
-
How come almost all MMO's are fantasy based? I'm sick of old school fantasy stuff. Show me some space based or current military based MMO's and I'll be hooked.
-
There won't be any elves or goblins in it. -
well, there will be wookies.
-
-
hahah screw that; i'd take an X-Wing over a wookie!

I personally think this MMORPG move is a terrible one, I thought the franchise would have been better off sticking to the genre established by the 1st 2 games, that way there's a better story and more character development.
Of course, lots of people like the OP are already going delirious over the announcement, but to each their own. -
acronyms aren't words afaik lol. fantasy isn't limited to orcs and elves. hopefully it's nothing like star wars galaxies.
-
I think a KOTOR mmo is a good idea because it takes place in the Star Wars universe, but during a time much earlier than the Star Wars Galaxies era. I played KOTOR I and II to death and this new installment will be great.
-
I'm skeptical about this as well. Will there be PvP or is it going to PvE? Will all players be Force users or will there be others such as Soldiers and Scoundrels? How are they going to balance the Force and Non-force players especially for PVP? Are they going to stick with the D&D rules and will it translate well to an MMO, or are they going to come up with a new rule set? Will they be able to come up with quality stories that will keep players entertained because that's the number one reason that made KotOR such a great game.
Personally, I'd like to see this as a shardless PvP game where Jedi players, gray area players, and Sith players can go up against each other trying to "win" for their side of a generally set story. I'd like to see them keep the prestige classes that Obsidian introduced as well as expand available classes e.g. Jedi Fighter Pilots. I guess I wouldn't mind if it were a PvE game as long as the stories and missions were top notch, and didn't depict every player as some sort of uber Jedi savior of the galaxy (that would be a mood killer). -
As someone who played SWG for 2 years starting right after the first Combat Upgrade, they better learn from the mistakes of SOE...they ruined a perfectly good game.
-
I'm just waiting for Diablo 3 personally.
I like the magical lore with the fruity night elves and retarded orcs, but space universe is good too. -
MMO's are being created at a fast pace right now for many reasons.
Firstly, it's the franchise tie ins. They know that once you hear about a new MMO, you'll instantly think, "wow I can explore this whole ^insert franchise planet/galaxy" Like when trekkies heard about the star trek MMO, they went CRAZY, even though the game will be sped along, with little attention to detail. The mere fact that you can explore this entire galaxy with the label Star trek slapped on it, is enough for some people.
Next, what company would want to pass up the offer to make a steady flow of profit after the base profit from retail sales by charging monthly service to the game you just paid full price for? -
Guys, I'm going to have to ask all of you to think about the forum rules...and acceptable language.
-
Alright...apparently some people haven't figure out what I meant. Most posts have been deleted.
I'll put it this way...if you have to intentionally mess up a word to get by the filter, that is a no-no.
And I would rather not see random strings like @#$%^&*^&*@(*()&*^&($%&& in its place either.
New game!
