    Hi,

My Core Duo XPS M1710 (7900gs version) is due to arrive tomorrow :) :) and i plan to do a number of benchmarks on it and maybe post a review of it. (3dmark03 & 05?)

Any games you would recommend? I havent owned a pc in about a year i think the last game i played was Rome: total war and Farcry) I quite like most rpgs, fps and strategy.

    thanks

FEAR and Oblivion are fun to play and will be beautiful on that computer. FEAR is a FPS with really cool graphics/physics and Oblivion is just amazing. (it's a RPG)

BattleField 2 (aka BF2), or the new one... Battlefield 2142. that its the only game that got me addicted; well worth the price :).

Rome Total War and Far Cry are two excellent games that I still play to this day.

What type of strategy games do you like? Turn-based or Real-Time?

I haven't played it yet, but I've heard that Hearts of Iron is an excellent WWII turn-based-strategy game. There is also a new Medieval Total War coming out.

BattleFront II is a fun FPS for Star Wars fans.

Farcry was excellent all the way through. (preferred it over HL2)

I like both turn based (civ) and realtime (starcraft, warcraft 3 etc :D)

possibly my favourite games are semi-realistic fps and free-roaming rpgs and party-based rpgs. Games with a strong multiplayer aspect also.

I might get Medieval 2 Total war which looks quite gorgeous. Im spoiled for choice really as i'd like to get all the following: Oblivion, Gothic 3, MTW2, NWN2, BF2142, (or just BF2 modded), HL2 + extras cs:s etc Company of Heroes, FM2007, CIV 4, KOTR2, call of duty 2, Broken sword angel of death, Defcon, Dark Messiah of might and magic....splinter cell double agent...

not to mention theres quite a few quality games on budget now (since i last had a pc) that i like the look of. (baldurs gate series complete, Pirates, Fear, Simcity 4, X3, Max Payne 2, Vampires:Bloodlines)

Ohh and i also need a good left-handed wired optical or laser mouse :D
edit: heard lappy has arrived but the courier has left at my neighbours coz my flatmate wasnt around to receive it

very impressed so far!! by everything no dead pixels either. Its ultra silent as well!! heck im worried the fans are broke its so silent.

even better is if im reading things correctly ive got a 512mb 7900 GTX instead of the 256mb 7900GS !!!!!!!!!!!!! i ordered.

    :D

atm im going through the checklist, downloading apps, antivirus etc, removing bloatware and stuff, benchmarking etc.

also bought a mouse and Company of Heroes (includes Dawn of War) :)
