Powerfuler? I can see the public education systems are still doing their jobs well. ;)

As for the x3000 versus the x200M - well, once the fully-accelerated drivers are ready, and depending on other factors (processor, RAM speed and amount), the x3000 should be more powerful, as it has more pixel pipelines, higher clock speeds, operates in conjunction with faster RAM, and finally implements hardware T&L. Plus it supports DirectX 10. I'm curious, however, where you found a notebook with an x3000. To my knowledge, there are no notebooks based on the 965 chipset yet; certainly, searching through the Gateway website reveals nothing of the sort.

I had read it supported DX 9c and OpenGL 1.4 . . . do you have link that states it supports dx10?

There's this article, and specifically this chart. I've seen it on older Anandtech articles, too, although new Intel tech documents backtrack to SM3.0 support only.

Who cares about DirectX 10? It supports OpenGl 2.0, and that delivers all the same effects.

If I recall, when the 200m first came out, it was meant to be the onboard x300, as it rivals the x300, but came in an onboard graphics flavour. I would only assume they are nearly the same.

I think the original poster was referring to a desktop GMA X3000 configuration. So far Intel has only hinted at DX10 support for the mobile version of the GMA X3000 which isn't released yet. The desktop GMA X3000 should support DX10 too, but it's quite possible that Intel will decide not to enable it on the desktop versions since there was some talk about how Intel's next desktop IGP will be their first DX10 IGP rather than the current desktop GMA X3000. The reason may be that the desktop GMA X3000 being the first version of the new architecture has some flaw that will be corrected starting with the mobile version or it may just be Intel trying to do some marketing scheme.

Well, according to the spec sheets, even if not released as a DX10 card, a driver update could add the functionality.

All of those effects are available to developers now, on DX9. And I'll put my faith in DX10 games, not pre-renders.

DX10 support for an intel IGP solution is meaningless, while it is reported that intel is looking to make an offering at the performance segment, 1) this chip is not it, 2) performance and integrated are not two great things that go great together.3) What difference does it make if the chip can support features for a game it is incapeable of running? The chip is more promising than what they have been cranking out, but at best its going to be on par with current IGP offerings from NV and ATI. If your lucky it will be simialr to the NV5200 when it launched, it was a DX9 capeable part, but the chip was so hobbled that you had to resort to dx8.1 shaders to get barely playable framerates at the lowest possible settings. Bottom line, it doesnt matter.

In benchmarks so far, the X3000 is either on par or exceeds the 6150 and X200. Which at least makes it better then the lineup gaming wise to date.

Also note that the performance in the X3000 has increased hugely with the latest drivers in comparison to older ones, so it may take overtake the Nv and Ati solutions in the future with further updates, although I'm sure by that stage there'll be new offerings from both those companies...

lol yeah I wasn't saying to get a integrated card. I was more like talking off topic about DX10. Sorry about that Iceman.
