I have tried all the new drivers. I used to use Dox 180.70. I have tried the new 185 series drivers and quite frankly. They all SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They give me driver crashes in EVERY GAME. I get the : Dipslay Driver has stopped responding error. I used to only get this error in Crysis Warhead when i would OC my graphics card. Now it happens in every game. And mind you, i have not OC my card in a LONG time. And they also give me frighteningly high temperatures.
Has anyone else had this problem besides me. If so then please tell me how you installed them and if they improved your FPS or stability at all.
I use the clean install, Have disk method in the gateway forums. So that can't be the problem.
Can anyone help me on this one.

What OS do you have?
-
Actually it's been the best driver for me besides Dox 182.46. They aren't the best 3dmark benchers, but they are fast and stable for games (185.85).

If you're getting driver crashes in every game, with every modern driver, the problem is not the drivers, it's somewhere in your system.
Skip the clean install and have disk next time. Just uninstall, restart, then use Nvidia's .exe for the install. -
8800 and getting crashes in every game? Scary. What happens to your temps when you roll back?
-
I got a good amount of stuttering viewing the scoreboard in L4D using the newer drivers. Also, the game would lag during hunter pounces. Fun.
Needless to say, I went back to my 179.28 drivers...
Still, it depends on the game you are trying to play. Drivers will not crash every game unless it was a bad install.
How to fix:
1)Boot into safe mode
2)Go to device manager and uninstall the drivers. Check the box that says "delete drivers from system"
3) reboot to regular windows when prompted.
4) Allow your computer to boot into windows to finish the driver uninstall. Then, go back to safe mode.
5) use the .exe file to install the new drivers. Boot into regular windows to allow the install to finish.
6) go pwn
Some people suggest using drive sweeper, but doing that is largely up to you. I don't use it, but others do. -
185.85 has been perfect for me.
-
hmmm, ok. I don't think it has anything to do within my system. Maybe i just have to do a really thorough uninstall of my current driver.
I will re-install this driver again and see what happens. I have only started to get this driver error since 185.68. What drivers are 8800m gts users using and how has it been working for you.
OH and i am back to playing CoD4 and Crysis wars. So maybe that might help.
I am using Vista x64, 4GB ram 8800m gts. -
Other than nCP not working, everything's fine it seems. -
Uninstall, restart into safe mode, run driver sweeper, install new driver and restart has always worked for me.

And i am about to clean my vents , see if that helps. -
I have problem with the new drivers too. I tried 185.85 today, every 3dMark06 test crashed. I went down to 8-10 fps @ GTA IV. Now I have downloaded 185.20. This is the driver I get best overall results with...

spradhan01 Notebook Virtuoso
185.85 also showed me a lot of problems with both vista and 7 so I went onto 181.XX.
-
for my 8700m gt best one has been 179.48 these new ones have been nothing but trouble for me
-
OK, i found the fix. Apparently rolling back to 180.70 was good enough. This driver has performance as good as 185.20 and is VERY stable. I stick to DOX 180.70 till the 19x.xx series drivers are released.
New nVidia drivers suck now.
