    Hey all,

We wanted to update you, and slow the flood of tweets, on questions surrounding the BFBC2 PC Beta being cancelled. I'll get right to it and say "the BFBC2 PC Beta is not cancelled". Now this all started due to changes made to an earlier blog that removed the PC Beta from the details and the reason for this was the plan changed. With the huge success of the PS3 Beta we decided to drastically increase the PC Beta's capacity to insure as many people as possible could participate. Unfortunately this meant we had to delay the Beta to very early next year giving us more planning time to make it happen and implement more optimizations.

Here is a recap of the current PC features, and we can now confirm DX11 support with more details to come later!

    PC Enhanced Features

    * Up to 32 Players on PC (24 on consoles) - Play with up to 32 players online in the biggest multiplayer Maps in Battlefield. Each with a different tactical and gameplay focus set across a variety of environments.
    * Full DirectX 9, 10 & 11 Support - Immerse yourself in the Battlefield world as Frostbite engine brings tanks, helicopters and explosions to vivid life on your PC. The game will fully support Windows XP, Vista, and 7 with new tech that further improves things like lighting and shadows.
    * Enhanced Gameplay - The PC version also includes wide peripheral support like Joysticks for flying, NVIDIA 3D Vision, Logitech LCD Keyboards and VoIP Support plus a variety of specific features tailored for PC play.
    * Friend Support - Find your friends online with the new buddy list to see if and who is online so you can quickly join their game.
    * Dedicated Ranked Server - Everyone gets non-stop action with no connection penalties based on some other player's internet. Ranked Server Provider program will give players opportunity to rent their own server(s) located in professional grade datacenters, ability to modify settings like map rotation, create reserved slots for friends or clan members, kick & Ban players, and custom name your ranked server.
    * Clan Support & Private Servers - Independent Clan Tag, and ability to rent servers for hosting and controlling private password protected competitive servers with expanded control over the settings from public ranked servers.
    * PC Squad Play System - Updated from previous Battlefield PC titles now gives control of your squad before heading into combat."

    DO WANT

I hope the system requirements wont be too demanding on my laptop

I kinda wish they had planes, that was one of my favorite parts of BF2. Also no more 32 vs 32 is kinda sad.

I've been playing the Playstation 3 beta for a few weeks now and I'm pretty satisfied. The gamy-play is pretty much arcade, but it doesn't get boring at all (only one map come with beta and still not sick of it). The variety of classes mixed with the different paths you can take make the experience exciting every time. It’s also quite comparative; I’ve spent hours trying to unlock a certain weapon or accessories (kind of like Modern Warfare, but little more interesting). Overall other than not being able to go prone and weapons details being off I’m pleased with what Bad Company 2 has to offer and this is coming from a person who enjoys military simulation games like ArmA/2 or Project Reality.

Investment into Activision is a waste to begin with. I don't know why so many people gave in and bought Modern Warfare 2. It disturbs me to think how many PC people supported a money hungry company that is helping destroy PC gaming. I’m not saying EA/DICE is any better, but at least they are proud to be including dedicated servers and a lot of extra features to the PC version of the game and not just porting into any platform to make money from every corner.

64 players will be nice if they can do it efficiently. I've been on some 2142 serevers with 64 players and they get buggy as hell. It's not even worth it. I'd much rather play in a 12v12 without grenade spam and constant lag than a 32v32.

so its basically a sequel to BF2?? but is it a new full game? I must be missing something as the way they named it makes it sound more like an expansion.

I really liked BF2 and BF2412 both games where fun and kept me playing for quite a while. I much preferred it over CoD multiplayer.

I'll have to look into this game and see exactly what its all about. I wish they would up the anti on 2142 I liked it even better than BF2, it was something different.

You obviously haven’t played Bad Company. I can’t start to name all the features it has to offer, because it’s too many for me to name, but to put it into perspective Bad Company 2 runs on a whole entirely new engine (Frostbite). But to name a few, you have WAY better graphics, advanced physics, 90% destructible environment, amazing sound effects, single-player campaign with actual storyline, a list of new weapons and unlocks and overall a NEW game. BC2 is not a patched up BF2 in any way; the only thing significantly connected to BF2 is the recycling of a few models with new textures and added details (Vodnik).

Well I have something to play with all my friends that are not at school with me, so for me it was worth the $60.

Before or after playing it lol, the campaign was cool but short, and the only time I play the multiplayer is with my friends, so I would say no. Though when it was released I was pumped to get it so I couldn't really tell you lol. Also I play on xbox, if that makes any difference.

I would get it. I bought it on Steam without having any friends who were getting it, and it's been a blast so far. The campaign was very entertaining, if short, and the multiplayer is great even with random matchmaking partners.

im gonna wait until they add dedicated servers in there. This game is nothing without the strong multiplayer basis that was created in MW1. They ruined this game. I have played it and have received a full refund from bestbuy for it too. This game is just your standard console port.

But that is a flame war for another thread.

They might add dedicated servers in MW2 when BF BC2 is taking all of their sales just to keep up you never know. Now i play the console version of MW2 because im tired of the hackers, pirates, lag, and etc in every server i was sent to and they arent doing anything to fix it and also there are still no response from IW on their forums nor even their twitter

Anyways back on topic im glad that EA/DICE is adding a console exclusive game into PC and giving us dedicated servers also giving us a demo as well maybe this will help IW realized their mistake with MW2 PC. I used to play BF2 a lot back then its still a very fun game when ur bored and i hope this game is sucessful ;)

It shouldnt be too demading like GTAIV and Crysis

I wonder how long the single player will be i hope its much longer than MW2 and COD4 and like the same length as the MOH series
