Just one photo? Bummer. The metal is promising.

It's about time that MSI took design more seriously. I have owned a few over the years and they were all built like cheap toys. The new thin models look great though.

    OH YEAH!

About bloody time to ditch the toylike MSI GT design and do a more professional look. Good for them
They say they will reveal it at CES. Awesome. This is giving me several options when I will replace this notebook this year.

And like ssasuke mention, I really hope they do a 2 fan build on the GT machines this time. Its long due coming and highly needed.

GT series will still have the same design as previous. They will only change the design on the lid it seems.
If you look at the description of the GT Dominator, it still have only 1 fan. How dissappointing.

GE/GS/GP will be the thin notebooks. But looking at the past, they do not have the greatest hardware. I hope they will change this for the 2014 models

Not too crazy about the additional naming scheme. Feels like they've said "lets give the laptop gaming handles from the 90's".

They did it! They finally made a 15" GS Notebook, I will definitely be checking this thing out, and if I like what I see, I might go for it. I wonder what they are doing with the GE40...

I like the thought of 3k/4k screens, but honestly, for gaming laptops until they get the GPU horsepower, it will be hard to imagine a need for it really. Desktop work will be gorgeous of course. That logo still bugs the heck out of me though.

Noooooo!!! If that last picture if of the GT series, I am not at all a fan of the stupid Gaming Series logo. I hate that thing. Its one of the reasons why I didnt like the lid of my old Asus G51 and why I was so found of both my GX660 and now GT60. Both of which are fairly discrete and not over the top look at my big gaming laptop lol. Not that I use my laptop at the coffee shop or Starbucks all the time, it just isn't practical. It just looks childish though. I don't want my laptop looking like a freaking jet stealth aircraft or a laptop with a huge alien head on it either. Can't a company just make a clean, sleek, elegant, and luxury looking laptop that packs a punch?

All other things aside I still love the GT series, even with the single fan. While it is loud no doubt, it still cool my system perfectly fine without even coming close to overheating. I would welcome a dual fan design, so long as it is silent at idle and still gives me the flexibility to engage super cool. I would also welcome a slimmer bezel, or a larger screen using up more of the existing bezel (wasted imo) space.

I think that old chassis is a cash cow for them, they prey on buyers that don't do their research.

MSI should streamline their lineup and just offer the good stuff - tweak it and get the price point lower. Their lineup is cluttered right now IMO.

Their thin gaming chassis is quite nice.

Man I can't believe it, MSI is sticking to the same old GT/GX chassis, this is unacceptable, the lack of innovation is pathetic, I really hope that brands like Gigabyte and their gaming line Aorus steal some of MSI market shares, they deserve to, they have at least helped design go forward .
Now I hope this doesn't mean Clevo will follow MSI's example, I am looking to get a new laptop this year but there is not a chance in hell I will get one with an already 3+ year old chassis not to mention borderline insufficient cooling .

That GX Destroyer from MSi is a totally idiotic concept - LOW-END CPU (once again! like in previous GX60 and GX70) paired with TOP AMD GPU witch is R9 m290x this time...

Those who buy GX Destroyer - ready yourselfs for bottlenecks witch reach the depths of an ocean...

How long have they been reusing the exact same design you find on the same GT models? 4 years now?
Its pathetic. Its a total lack of innovation like you say. MSI is still stuck on the 1 fan cooling model with the very thick chassis with a toylike design.

I just remember how much they bragged about the "Cooler booster 2" on the GT machines last year. The cooling is still crappy because it still only have 1 fan. They just polished a turd.

Its sad that the GS series get all the love (2 fans, pure aluminum, no plastic) which cost around 1200-1500 bucks. While the GT series which customers pay most money for $2000+ get the same plasticy, toyish, 1 fan design. Which also is thick as hell. Gigabyte which is a small player among all the notebook OEM, managed to build a super slim SLI notebook that is just as good in performance but have much better features than MSI.

MSI is good at marketing. At creating these idiotic and silly marketing slides. The one I link to here is about the feature to use the battery as backup if you plan to overclock the GT series notebooks since they cheaped out and only included a tiny 180W PSU while all the other respected brands use 240W PSUs. According to several reviews, that feature was just as sucky as the Cooler boost 2 feature they had.

Now they try to market again. Call the GT notebooks for "GT Dominator" to make it seem like something new. Well you are not fooling me MSI. My Alienware 18 is miles ahead of your crappy cooling and your silly design. I`m not buying your notebooks until you make the notebooks more representative to adults and not little kids, and until you fix the sub par cooling you got.

It is difficult to argue against that. Between this (same old MSI design) and the rebrands, what a year's beginning to forget.

Let's pray for a change of scenario before the end of the year.

I totally agree with all you have said, I actually had my hopes up that MSI would have something new this year, it is just staggering that they are incapable of change, I was seriously considering getting the successor to GT70, now it is settled, MSI WILL NOT GET MY MONEY .
Clevo is still in the game though I am really hoping they do not follow suit, and cheap out .
I guess that leaves Alienware, which are just ridiculously expensive in Europe, and maybe Asus, the new Aorus line is sweet but I think they are going to be waaaaay overpriced and extremely hard to get in Europe, like Gigabytes currently are atm .

I got a pretty good deal on mine here in Europe. About 30% discount I think.

Yeah I do not think Aorus will be cheap. I love MSI, but I`m not supporting them by buying a notebook that offer nothing new compared to the old ones. Hardware is good but that help very little if you are unsatisfied with the total product.

Eh, at least my laptop that I got in September won't be outdated too quickly. I won't be changing it too soon, anyway, but can't say I'm ok with their marketing. I'm curious about the new Asus designs, though; the 2013 line is gorgeous.

From all the CES announcements I'm viewing, it's pretty much last years processor and this year's rebrand gpu (for existing lines). Guess I'll go back to ma cave until the summer to see if there are any new updates on Broadwell/Maxwell/Crystal Series systems.

Don't forget, Cooler Boost AKA "we have liftoff" is also a design flaw, er feature, as is the over-the-top industrial design, rainbow keyboard, "Super RAID" 0, Killer NIC, yadda yadda yadda. Features features features. MSI is all about features yet they neglect the most basic thing by implementing a fail cooling system.

lol I like the liftoff and battery boost thing , alteast it gives a purpose to the battery when your plugged in , which I assume is most of the time :D plus its innovative but then again it is a double edge axe, you can't get more than a 180W PSU as far as I know even if you mod the tip since the Power Control Board is programmed with 180 W :| ... oh well can't wait till next year to see some new stuff, Also lets just hope MSI doesn't pull a sager and make us have to upgrade to use maxwell or ATI's new GPU

it only matters if you wanna overclock a GTX 780M with a OV bios , but other than that the stock system works , also the reason why they did this was just that it was cheaper to make 180 W coupled with cheap cost effective method of using the battery then use a higher wattage PSU , thus increasing production cost. Also it matter if you game constantly for over 8 hours , I think I played Crysis 3 for 8 hours then the battery hit its lower threshold , its kinda nice ,makes you take breaks :D. But in all honesty I wish they added another Fan to cool a GTX 780M with OV bios to keep it at a nice 70-75.
