I just purchased a sony vaoi sz with a nvidia 7400. I am looking to get into a new game, something not so much power demanding and that is playable offline. Any suggestions?

Well Half Life 2 isnt really a new game (2004) but its 3 episodes (1 already released) like the origional game are top notch. I would definitly recommend it. Its also got some great mods, and lots of multiplayer options if you decide to ever play on-line. I have the resolution at 1024x768 and most settings on high with my 6200, so a 7400 should have no problem toping the HL2, and doing very well with the new episodes (now with HDR and more)

He wanted some games that arnt power hogs like Oblivion, Fear, Quake 4, and Hitman. HL2 and the starwars games are older and less demanding games.

I wouldn't call HL2 a system hog, it scales to older systems very well.

Umm, what sort of game exactly are you after? RTS, Turn Based, FPS, Sports etc. Civilization 4 is a good way to waste away the hours.

I never said HL2 was demanding. I said it was older and was not very damanding. Why dont you re read my post. I did say that the new episodes are more demanding, since they are being updated with the latest technology, like HDR, but these can be turned off, and the game is good again.

Thanks guys. I think I'll go shopping tommorow for half life 2 and maybe lord of the rings. Sheff, how is the 1210 running with you? Great machine, almost got one. Have you tried BF2 on it?

Quake IV should actually run very well on your system, as it's OpenGL based (which is the specialty of nVidia cards) and has a lot of optomizations for dual-core PCs, although I'd defnately get HL2 first if you don't have it already. HL2 should run at full settings easily, as long as Color Correction (which is frankly just a 30% framerate drop for no perceptible gain in image quality) and HDR are off.

hl2 > bf2 In my opinion so the biggest question in me is why didnt u buy it 2 years ago because its the most amazing game out! haha

Anyways, I'd also reccommend Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic (offline), Guild Wars(online) , and Far Cry. If you really like graphics, Doom 3 is good too for a 2 year old game.

I'd def recommend Guild Wars if you want something different. Graphically, it's a very pleasaing MMORPG and it helps that it's free (save for the initial cost of buying the game).

Well you see the thing is I dont have it yet. I ordered it yesterday, and the specs below are what I ordered. I should have it in 1-2 weeks...I have connections. So im not sure how BF2 runs on it. But knowing how it runs on my P4 2.4GHz, 768MB RAM, Geforce 6200 desktop, it should run on high-medium setting on mine, if not all high, just minus AA/AF.

You should be able to run it on all high settings and minus AA/AF like you said. I run BF2 on all high settings and AA/AF and I have a Core Duo 2.0 GHz, 2GB DDR2 RAM @ 667, 100GB HD @ 5400rpm, Nvidia 7800 Go.

You should be golden. Just dont play without a plug. It sucks to be just about to snipe someone in the face when your screen goes completely dead.

I could imagine citric...about the sniping thing. Yeah I agree with what you said about the specs and settings. I onyl wish that they could have put in a 7600 in the 1210. Yes I know its too small to have it, but if it did, omg ultimate notebook, for me atleast.
