    Ej guyz,

I've been playing on my ol' N64 for some days now. Nice - but the graphics are really dated. For example in Diddy Kong Racing and Mario64 there's lots of jaggies.

Now I know there are emulators for PC, which you can play your N64 games with and can upgrade the GFX (with filters, AA and all), when you dump your game cartridges to ROM-files. I'm currently researching how to do that and it's looking good.

What emulators can you recommand for N64? I hear Project64 V1.6 is good, but when I ran a demo-ROM (no commercial game), it wasn't all that good. Sound was stuttering and framerate not always solid. Any other alternatives? I run Vista by the way.

    Thanks! :)

Same here, the most known game like super smash or zelda work flawlessly but Vigilante 64(I think) I glitchy as hell.

Project64 is the best indeed - but if you can, drop the $20 and become a member.
You'll be able to get the latest beta of v1.7, and it has some features that'll make your games look even better.
I can't really say what without getting in trouble, though.

Hmm.. it doesn't run well at all here. No matter what settings I throw at it. Could you give me your specific settings?

    PM is also an option.

PSXe I think is the one I used to use. I had somebody steal my XenoGears disk so that was the only way I could go back to play it.

emulators suck. I only play the real things for the most part unless the game cant be found (unreleased stuff etc) emulation sucks

Sadly, my N64 keeps resetting when it gets hot, and my snes bit the dust. Sooo...emulation is the best thing.
zsnes is so cool. You can really smoothen out the lines to make it look up to date. I'd probably die if I didn't play Zelda:ALttP every once in awhile ;)

I disagree. Emulation is pretty cool. If I'm playing officially licensed VC games on my Wii, or running Advance Wars on gpSPhone with my iPod Touch, I appreciate not having to lug all my cartridges (and game systems) around with me wherever I go.

Anyone who owns a Wii knows that emulation can be just as good as the real thing, if it's done right. For an authentic experience you will need a well coded emulator, a sufficiently powerful computer - and most importantly - a decent controller. The Wii's Classic controller, with homebrew PC drivers, has a similar feel to the SNES controller. A wired 360 controller would probably be the best way to play N64 games though, with some exotic adapters, it is possible to get a more authentic experience.

Though I will say right now: a QWERTY keyboard is not adequate for playing N64 games. For N64 you really need a proper thumbstick and buttons.

those questions are forbidden to answer in this forum. we only talk about the emulators at most, we never link or show you how to download games.

you have to find that out yourself. sorry.
