I felt bad for those guys when their offices got destroyed, great to see them back in force.

Looking forward to it when/if it's released on PC. For now I just want to see some more gameplay. More variety in species that look more alien would be nice too.

I just don't think they can make the worlds too varied and will get boring pretty quickly. At first it will be like "ooh ahh, cool" then after a couple dozen worlds there will be nothing new. Now if it were a Elite type game where you could go on the surface to discover stuff to trade and battle for, it might be more interesting.

The issue here is that consoles are just too limited to deliver on the game concept they want to make.
To give the feeling they are preaching, the worlds will all be quite similar with a few variations.

Note that as ambitious as they are, the graphics in their demo are not really that great. (and their color palette seems to not match the reality we actually live in)

Honestly, I am MUCH more interested in something like Star Citizen which will focus on modeling a specific group of systems extremely well with a high-end computing platform than an open sandbox with an economy-model processor behind it.

This looks like minecraft universe with slightly better graphics and creative mode disabled. Honestly Minecraft (on PC) with the right mods has a chance of being better.

I wish them the best of luck as the concept is really fun... but wish they would develop on the infinitely superior PC platform instead of console.

EDIT: This is a PS4 exclusive... not a PC port. We do not know the level of development they actually reached before deciding this would be a PS4 exclusive. However, due to the limitations they just adopted as their main delivery system it isn't difficult to extrapolate that they didn't get that far into actual implementation.

As a caveat, maybe they have developed some miracle math and miracle programming which makes all they promise possible on a PS4. I severely doubt it.

Agreed, I think a PC version of this game will make it infinitely better! However, I believe the gaming community has yet to see the "next-gen" consoles pushed to their limit. Just like what we saw with the PS3, there were games that looked amazing and this was at the end of the PS3's lifespan (i.e. Last of Us).

I don't doubt that the developers will make this an enjoyable and "playground-like" experience!

Have you tried Evochron Mercenary? It might scratch an itch, it's a little like the X games but you can fly to planets. It's a lower-budget indie game, but it's damn good for what it is.

Yeah, I tried it. Pretty decent game, and has low system requirements so it works on pretty much anything, which is nice. I'm waiting for Elite Dangerous to finish. You can get in on the beta version for $150, a bit steep: https://elite.frontier.co.uk/
Standard Beta coming next is $75, and final game will be $50. I just find it odd how it costs more for a beta then finished product. You are paying 3x final release price to play with unfinished code. I don't get it. Granted you get all future updates and DLC though.

Elite current premium beta gets you game plus all future content. That ends end of the month I believe. After that, yes the game buy in gets cheaper, but you have to pay for all further DLC. So current beta offers actually pretty good value.

No Man's Sky looks really good, I've been following it since it was announced. Good to hear they got back on their feet after the flooding incident! For me it will come down to what features are included. Very lofty goals. Great to see space sims are back in fashion again!

Then I'm getting this game if it's released on PC. I've seen a few trailers of NMS on YouTube, now I can't wait to get my hands on it.
