    :( :( :( :(
    Took me a almost one and a half hours to find out whats preventing FEAR from starting up. And finally I come to the conclusion its the sound. When I used the config unity to disable sound games starts up and works flawlessly, what sucks is what good is FEAR without sound!!!!!
    I read on other posts that it might be a codec I installed that is causing the problem, because other ppl with same sound card works perfectly, so can anyone help me? how to check which codec i have? and how to shut them all down so i could play fear with sound?
    Edit: Btw I tried this method already doesnt work
    * Double click Control Panel->Sounds and Multimedia
    * Select the Hardware tab
    * Select Audio Codecs from the list in the display box (you may have to scroll to find it)
    * Click the Properties button
    * Select the Properties tab
    * From the list of Audio Compression Codecs, select Windows Media Audio
    * Click the Properties button
    * Make sure the radio select box "Use this audio codec" is selected
    * On "Change priority from x to ..." drop down, choose "1" (first priority)
    * Select OK buttons all the way to closing Sounds and Multimedia
