Hi I just bought a new laptop today and have a few questions. (My graphics card is 1Gb 9650m GT GDDR2, and 32-bit OS).

    1. How do I check which driver version I am currently running? I checked driver details but couldnt find a number like "179.40" instead I found a really long number instead.

    2. If I go to http://laptopvideo2go.com/, can I just download the '180.70 Vista 32bit - 2008-11-18" on the front page, or do I have to go find the one that matches my graphics card?

    Thanks.

You can download the 180.7 driver off laptopvideo2go, but also make sure you download the modified inf file and copy it to the extracted Nvidia directory overwriting the old inf file with the modified one.

Note: You don't have to download the latest one. If you check out their forums, you will see they have separated each driver set in different sections and carefully labeled what each one 'officially supports' (mobile/desktop).

Replacing the .INF file is not that hard, remember this is a simple piece of software we are talking about here.. not brain surgery.

I believe the driver (.exe) will extract itself into whatever folder you choose. In that folder, it will have a bunch of other files, one of which will be labeled "nv4_disp.inf". All you have to do is replace that file with the modified version on LaptopVideo2go's site. Then double-click the setup.exe and let the installer do its thing.

    Not that hard.

    --------

By the way, make sure you uninstalled your current Nvidia drivers first. To do this go to Add/Remove Programs and select Nvidia Drivers. Then click Uninstall and when it asks you to reboot, click "Yes".

The driver number that most people reference - like 180.70 - are the last five digits of the long driver number: 7.15.1 1.8070.
