Do you have hyper threading enabled?

Something is terribly wrong. What kind of battery/power options do you have? Make sure it's performance.. right now anything could be bottle-necking you

Don't want to imagine there's something wrong with your 680M..

In not sure about the hyper threading. I can look into it. Should it be enabled or disabled. Is this in bios?

I have it on performance in the power options.

Depends on what you have it on. You can disable it in the BIOS, depends on your BIOS though.

    A real mystery this is..

We've gone through almost everything already.. Last is the BIOS (during start up, pressing F2 or delete) check it compare with other users. And maybe check the cpu hyperthreading option (should be set enabled)..

Check the GPU driver one more time, it should be real a clean install.. Check C drive folders too for any identical NVidia folders. (306.02 is fine with my system, though I might switch soon to 310..)

Power supply is it ample?.. 240?

As Amirfoox puts it, "the 680m just simply works". Which means even at stock clocks it just plays games like butter.

I myself never had any issues at all, nothing. Just install game and play (in high gfx setting with good FPS).

I also don't want to think that there's something wrong with the hardware... Any warranty just incase?

Will an AW R4 Power Supply work for his model? I think I read other users switching to a more powerful PS.. I'm not exactly sure though, others may know.

Even last year with my ASUS w/ the 460M, ..Crysis 2 shows over 1.5 dedicated memory usage, 460M only has 1.5.

I think it still shows over 1.5 mem. usuage with my 680m, ..this is with the High Resolution texture and DX 11 Cysis 2.

This game too, I could play Ultra 1080p, but prefers Extreme setting for consistent, nice, high FPS with v-sync on.

Crysis 2 is heavy w HRT and DX11 at 1080p with Extreme and Ultra setting.

And yeah, ..ofcourse I mean OC'ing the memory for increasing GPU bandwidth. :p

Well I played again tonight and ran into the same problem. I'll be borrowing a power meter from work to see exactly how much power the laptop is pulling. If it goes up over 165 or 170 watts ill be satisfied knowing that is most likely the problem, but also a little concerned/curious why a company would only equip the laptop with an inadequate power supply.

It doesn't really matter what the deddicated memory usage says. You could have 4GB and fill it all up but that doesn't mean the GPU can manage 4GB of data at the FPS it shoots it out at. 1GB is more than plenty for 1080p gaming on ANY mobile GPU. Although 2GB can't hurt. But 4GB is overkill. You could have a GT 620m with 4GB vRAM but even if it used all that vRAM doesn't mean it could take advantage of it, it would just be used as a storage pool for textures nothing more.

What I saw on the old 1.5GB GTX460M when you have hi-res pack enabled in Crysis 2 it stutters like crazy, GTX460M was able to handle it if it had more vram, the stuttering only happens when you move the camera around.

I thought the 460m only came with max 1.5GB vRAM?

Asus's Lamborghini VX7 comes with GTX 460M 3GB version (still 192 bit), but that seems to be the only GTX 460M with 3GB vram.

So I hooked up the power brick to a power meter on the wall side of the power supply.

When at sitting idle on Intel 4000 it pulls about 30 watts and when 680M is engaged is jumps up to 55-60 watts. During the first test of 3D mark 11 it saw the highest power consumption, about 155 Watts. I only played one round of BF3, just to see what kind of power it will draw. So playing close quarters in a full 48 man server on high preset, 1080p vsync on it topped out at 145 Watts which is 1.3 Amps.

To get to 180 watts, my power supply limit, would be another 25 watts (from highest power I saw during 3d mark 11) or 220 milliamps. That's a 17% increase from it's highest point. I don't know, but I don't see BF3 causing that kind of demand to stump my power supply. I didn't see any severe frame rate drops, so really the information isn't much help to me anyway.

Anyway if nothing else, a little bit of data.

    So PSU wise..all normal.
    Focus on drivers next...
What sort of scores are you getting on 3dmark11?
Sorry if it has been answered before..

If you really want to get things going up then perhaps time to update vbios not that i recommend it only as a last resort
    See here
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/693876-best-vbios-gtx-680m-stock-voltage-ov.html

Perhaps your vbios is of a conservative type and not pushing the GPU to the max. I have seen scores of 6000 for 680m with 3610 and then I have seen 8000 but o/c with vbios mods. It's entirely up to you as to whether you leave it or push it. Maybe other 680m owners can advise of newer drivers and perhaps try that as a last resort before updating vbios.

    Good luck.

Any other suggestions? I don't want to, and shouldn't have to flash new vbios just to play a game smoothly.

Does MSI usually have problems like this?
