I've seen it done. I know it's possible. And I want to do it. I should have done more homework before I bought my computer (see specs in signature) because now I want a better GPU. So I ask you, is it possible to replace MY GPU? I assume it would be different, because mine runs Optimus Technology and has the button to switch between Optimus and the IGP. So I really want to know if I can do this. It runs Starcraft 2, Mass Effect 2, Bad Company 2, and WoW all great, but not good enough for me. I can only run Bad Company 2 reeallly smoothly on low, but decent on med. I wanna run SC2 on ultra, WoW on ultra, Mass Effect 2 1920x1080, so on and so forth. So I'm planning on getting probably the GT 425m, but I could just as easily treat myself to the 480m.
so let me know!

You have to know which socket (MXM) your card is and find a compatible replacement.
you can't have a very strong card with it (not even GTX460M).
Max is maybe the 335GT -

If you're talking about replacing the gpu for the computer in your sig it's not replaceable it's integrated into the mother board on that model.

hooray for JT wasting thread space!
i might as well face the fact that im not gonna be satisfied until i spend 5 or 6 grand on the best possible laptop i can get. -
that's hardly true.
If you're really willing to spend just get a m17X with Crossfire 5870's. -
you can get a sager8690 with the 470m for 1500+ on xoticpc.com

Well I can't afford a new laptop right now. buying a brand new one right after i just got this one 2 weeks ago would be a waste of money. but it is ridiculously tempting. I could easily sell this brand new Sager for 700 bucks since its discontinued and would be way cheaper then anything anyone could find. but eh, ill have to see. but the next one in my sights is the..well look at my signature hehe
