    Hi guys,

sorry if it has been asked before but time is of the importance. friend of mine asked to help him select a laptop major difference is that one has 4570 and other has 3650. I looked online and found that the 3650 has 128bit memory bus width and 4570 has either 64 bit or 128 bit. If 4570 is 64 bit 3650 is better choice, if both have 128bit 4570 is better. so:

    1. Does memory bus width have a big impact
    2. how do i go about finding out memoy bus width if i go to the store to see the demo model.

4570 is in sony viao VGNNW130DT and 3650 in Gateway MD7811U.

    Thanks

While the HD4570 performs surprisingly well for a 64bit GPU(it can do 8600M GT levels at modest resolutions), the HD3650 will still beat it by a fair margin.

There is no such thing as a 128bit HD4570. Notebookcheck or wherever you got that info is wrong.

I beg to differ. While the 128bit HD 3650 does outperform the 4570, it doesn't do so by a large margin. Both cards are pretty similar in terms of real life game performance. On higher details, the difference between both cards would only be about a couple of FPS.

Well I never said it was huge, I said it was a 'fair' difference. Also, the actual game or resolution is very important. The 64bit bus width cripples the HD4570 at higher resolutions(I'd bet at anything higher than 1440x900 it will start to feel it)

For the record, I have the 4570 (256MB GDDR3, and yes it is 64-bit), and at my native 720p, it can handle pretty much whatever I throw at it. I play Crysis quite comfortably at mostly low settings. TF2 is fine maxed out, and CoD4 is quite smooth with a mix of medium and high.

To make you feel happy, I have the 3650 and I find that it runs Crysis rather well at some very high settings, some at medium, and others on low at 1280 x 800. With an FPS averaging about 30FPS.
