I'm kind of confused because based on my searching through the archives a couple laptops that at one point allowed SLI 8600gt's now only support a single 9500GS... are there any notebooks (particularly 15.4in) that still allow 8600 SLIed?

The Alienware m17x can be configured with 8600's in sli but its a ripoff if thats what you're getting with the m17x.

why the heck isnt anyone doing it any more? i would think there would be a huge demand for the performance increase if the 8800 is out of your reach. it really sucks that (at least on newegg) you have to pay for a useless hd-dvd drive to get it.

what is the point of having SLI 8600m GT while a single 8800m GTX can blow them out of water easily? plus people with dual gpu rig are always hardcore gamer.

1 8800M is probably less heat and less power usage compared to dual 8600M, and definitely fits in a smaller space. Budget gamers can go 8800M GTS for about the same price dual 8600Ms would set you back.

ok that makes sense
Notebooks that still allow 8600's in SLI
