    Hi
I was just wondering if the nvidia "bad bumps" with the 8800m gtxs were ever fixed. what would be the chance of a new one from alienware having the old lead solders? thanks

i read that they started using a new type of solder in some of the 8 and 9 series. although they still used the older lead solder. if that makes any sense. thanks

Nvidia did start using the eutetec type solder for the 9 series but Nvidia still didn't fix many other problems than cause the issues internally.

lol what a load of nonsence... problem wasn't fixed with 8000 series but no such problem with 9000 series... if u have a hot 9600M GT , it's most probably because ur laptops cooling system is crap... like for Dv5t... easily hits 89C with OC... had to software mod and undervolt the CPU to get it to be in 70-75C...

No one on the forum has reported a problem on that set of hardware yet from the little I've read.

Yea the problem with bad cards seems to reside just with the 8xxx series. Issues with the 9xxx series is mostly from bad cooling systems.

bad cooling's the main problem always... but ya , 9500MGS seem to be overheating... don't know if its cooling or GPU related.

Mind you, i'm on the second year with a 8600m gt, which has been running at 90C for the past 2 years :p lets see how long it lasts,

Then i'm going to mass bake it, and super mod the cooling for the lappy with it lol.
