I'm debating installing this, but I've never installed video drivers before. What are some things I should do before and after installing these? Things to beware of?

there was a debate about this last week. some say do and some say dont use driver cleaner pro.
well im one that says do so follow these steps and you shouldnt go wrong.

as youve not updated drivers before it might be worth downloading an official whql first just to get the hang of it.

Haven't done much benching but they seem to be working pretty well for me. First impression it seems like I might finally have found something better for my rig than 186.82.

Just finished installing these. The DPC Latency maximum on these for me has been reduced from upper ~6000 range to lower ~2000 range when jumping around clock speeds after making my GPUs decode 720p video. That's a significant decrease. DPC Latency when going from max speed to idle is lower ~1000 range. Although my DPC woes were resolved with the previous driver, I just thought I'd let everyone know.

Will test games and what not later today.

    Just wanted to share:

    NWN2 @ 5760 x 1080

FPS is about 60fps mostly, except where I am, since I'm in a part of the game where it's always low. But it makes for a nice panorama :)

This will never happen. But the driver comes with the Sony inf, which supports (after tweaking a bit) most Vaio GPU's.

Has anyone tried installing this driver (or any other driver from the 25x.xx series for that matter) on a Dell Latitude E64xx/E65xx? So far I have had no luck installing the drivers directly from the source, nor with the binary and INF supplied by LaptopVideo2Go. For the former source, I also tried using the INF from a Dell supplied driver, along with the security package and required associated DLL file, but like the latter, ended up with an error about missing one or more of the display driver core components.

From what I understand, the nVidia 3100m is a supported product through nVidia Verde, but I cannot get the computer to recognize the driver as compatible. If anyone has any experience with this sort of problem or any advice on how to resolve this problem, I would much appreciate it.

Ok,guys hold off on this,I had a real scary problem today,I was playing realflight an RC sim with the new driver and I was running it hard,RF is hard on the GPU(Despite it still looking rather pathetic) and was running at 90C...well suddenly I saw the temp rise 10C in less than 15 sec maybe,...up the temp rose to 106C...wow....That is real hot for a freshly cleaned and on a cooler G50VT-X1,I also got a full system freeze and had to force restart 3 hours ago.

the graphics quality is better with the new drivers? could you back that up in a blind test? are you sure it isn't exactly the same? Because that is what I would suspect.

    I'm having similar problems.

Normally they perform about the same as the 186.82 drivers I was previously using, but a little hotter.

But randomly, even when not doing particularly demanding things, my video card was twice gotten really hot (seemingly at random) and caused a system freeze.

Went back to 186.82 after the second freeze, no evidence whatsoever of the problems coming back, so I think it would be safe to assume it was the 258.69 drivers to blame.
