sorry to say but it's kind of old news...
-
This release is the Mobile WHQL as opposed to the previous release that was for the Desktop only. -
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Desktop was beta.
Now those are whql verde with official support of mobile cards.
Ill doing some runs in 3dmark06 to see how it does.
Someone says that gpu usage raised in dead rising 2 ans f1 2010,i hope they run better this time. -
The biggest feature to these drivers is that you can now customize your installation. So if you are not interested in 3D or PhysX you can un-check them at installation. This is long overdue IMO.
-
At least I still have hope in Alienware/Dell. -
why does it say File Size:
XXX MB? -
32-bit: 127MB
64-bit: 160MB
but I guess it says XXX because someone forgot to fill out that part. -
I love that Nvidia has added the option for clean install. No more Safe Mode + Driver Cleaner for me.
-
so how do the perform against 258.96?
-
waiting on some benches and o/c potential too
-
Praying that it doesn't cause more driver failures...
-
Now some on the Nvidia forums are claiming that there are some left over issues from the beta version which bears the same name, i.e. BR drive playback problems and black pixel problems in playback mode.
For me these are fantastic and you can now pick and choose what you want installed, including: Nview, PhysX, and Stereoscopic 3D.....Nice
p.s. I had performance issues as well with 258.96 but have been resolved with 260.89, me happy ! -
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
A few benchmark for you guys:
Old benchmark:
Clocks: 571/1450/950
Cpu: 3,45 Ghz
Bios: .10 v1.06 Moral_Hazard
Resolution: 1280x800
Gpu Temperature: peaked 83°c
Driver: 260.63 beta
Score: 13,046
New benchmark:
Clocks: 571/1450/950
Cpu: 3,45 Ghz
Bios: .10 v1.06 Moral_Hazard
Resolution: 1280x800
Gpu Temperature: peaked 76°c
Driver: 260.89 WHQL
Score: 13,055
Score increased and temperatures dropped considerably. And ive seen a great improvement over some games like Dead Rising 2 and F1 2010... -
you've compared them with 260.63 but can you compare them with 250.89?
-
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Nope i cant right now (i lack time to do it) but i keep note of my precedent benchmarks.
With same settings as above but with 258.96 WHQL 3dmark06 score was 12,889.
Note that these arent gaming clocks, just benchmark clocks. For games i need to lower it a bit (567/1450/940) otherwise the nivida kernel crashes.
Doing a fullrun with gaming clocks my score drops to 12,996. Just a bit lower, just 50 marks. -
Anyone know if it works with the Apple 320m?
-
-
+9 points in 3dmark06?
I'm sold. -
spradhan01 Notebook Virtuoso
Looks improved and cooler than the 258.
-
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Whats amazing is the really low temperatures i get now, talk about 7 degrees of difference. Also as i said, low fps and avg just increased alot, althought max fps decreased. But hell, everything really smooth and enjoyable now.
-
This does not support the GTX 460m in the Asus G73jw, yet the 260.63 beta does. Anyone knows why?
-
I have Sager NP8760 with GTX 460m, and the install is saying it is not supported either.
-
-
I have gone back to 260.63, less stuttering in my favourite games (GTA IV + SR2).
Edit: I also noticed much more pop in with GTA IV with these drivers and lowering settings made little difference. While the frame rates stayed the same, it felt like I was playing in slow motion due to the stuttering. I also see others mention stuttering in other games too so it does not look very promising.
Edit:
After trying 260.99 WHQL, the above problems are no longer occurring. Some think that 260.63 had known problems which could explain such a quick release of 260.99. Just speculation though. -
Anyone tested starcraft II yet?
Also I know there is support for the R2 now, but if anyone have the time, I know a lot of people will appreciate if anyone could make a modded version of these as it was done with the 260.89 desktop betas. ( I used those to make a modded version for Hybrid solutions (vaio Z and R1).
Thanks -
way too much stuttering in world of warcraft with these drivers - almost to the point of unplayable
-
-
Had 3 lockups within an hour. Tried with Darksiders, FIFA 11 and Plants vs Zombies. -.-
I'm done with this driver. -
I have never had good experience with these 259/260xx drivers, but just out of curiosity I tried this driver again, unfortunately no surprise again here, compared to DOX's 195.62, 3dMark06 dropped by over 600 points, (8300 vs 8900), RE5 benchmark shows a loss of over 5fps at 1920x1080. This driver may work well for newer cards, but for my 9800M gs, it truly sucks, big time.

Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Everything fine here, they OC like others at my end. Except that theyre alot more cooler and smooth.
-
I get a huge amounts of artifacts after an hour all at once then it bsod. It says nvlmkddm caused it. Is that a driver crash or hardware failing.
-
If your problem happened shortly after the driver upgrade I would ASSume it's the driver which is more likely the problem. I would first check temps, if they look normal, I would then uninstall the driver and run driver sweeper and remove any left over files and registry entries and then I would reinstall your drivers. -
Sigh as with every other 200 series driver this causes my laptop monitor to shut off when the card down clocks to idle, brill back to 197.16
-
for 9xxx and 8xxx gpu's its better to stick to the 19x.xx drivers.
the 2xx.xx drivers work better for the newer cards though.
btw does anyone know if this contains a cuda update? -
@lebob23
be sure to watch your temps, and even if your temps dont register that high, check for artifacts on screen. if you see any, best to quit and restart. i know you tweaked the game's graphics much. that could lead to some graphical instability. -
-
weird, i hate strange lockups and stuttering, but then i uninstalled and reinstalled. runs smooth as a baby's butt now. runs about 5 degrees cooler and the graphics look more crispy.
-
Ok here's what I found in the INF for the Apple 320m:
DEV_08A0&SUBSYS_00C2106B "NVIDIA GeForce 320M "
DEV_08A0&SUBSYS_00CE106B "NVIDIA GeForce 320M "
DEV_08A4&SUBSYS_00C0106B "NVIDIA GeForce 320M
These are the only ones that don't have "GT" in front of them, so I'd guess they are for the Macbook. -
Anyone facing this problem?
Hope to get some solution

Hm..the only annoying thing about this driver for me is its inability to auto load the NVIDIA's desktop colour settings at startup, where I really need it, due to the low contrast ratings I used with my secondary monitor.
Previous drivers did it automaticallyor am I missing something here?
-
These drivers seem to cause issues when using Rivatuner to control clocks; or at least cause stuttering when trying watch 1080p using CUDA; haven't figured out which is the cause yet =\
