Yesterday I repasted my CPU and GPU in my Lenovo Ideapad Z580 with some ICD7.
The disassembly and reassembly went very well and the temps are much cooler for both.
After that I installed EVGA Precision X, to replace MSI Afterburner as an OC tool, and I noticed that the GPU core clocks would not apply when changed. When before I used to OC my core clock to 730 instead of the stock 661.
Memory clocks are still affected when lowered or lessened.
I uninstalled Precision X and tried using MSI Afterburner again to OC but the core clock changes would still not stick. I tried using other OC tools such as Nvidia Ntune and still no effect.
I even tried a System Restorere to a point before EVGA Precision X was installed and the problem persists.
What can I do to resume OCing of my 635m?
I am anticipating OCing to much higher clocks for high rez gaming now that I got my temps much more under control!
---EDIT:
Nevermind!! Apparently, after installing EVGA the clocks would stay at default 661 core while mid range games like Dota 2 and Baldurs gate Enhanced edition, while kicking in to full OC while running games like AC3 on high at 1920x1080p. Never seen this kind of thing happen, but I suppose Problem solved![]()
PS: Got a good 105+ to run under 85 degrees on the core clock. AC3 ran very smoothly, without the annoying throttling I would get on stock TIM and only +71 on core clocks.
Nvidia 635m not overclocking anymore!
