The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

yup that's normal. there has been a lot of discussion on this in this thread (just do a search).
If you'd like to keep it a little cooler try using i8kfanGUI fan/temperature control program.

I just sold my 5150. It was a P4 3GHz I lovingly called "the heater!" That thing could blow some heat out the back.

Anyhow, I fashioned a small contraption (bicycle reflector) to raise the rear of the computer up about 1/2" and that really seemed to help calm it down a lot.

Not sure if it would help with the video card, but, it may be worth a shot.
