I know the comparision sounds silly but i have noticed Dell notebooks with the 7900 have come down in price recently, and if i sell my Acer 5102 with its X1100 i then would be able to buy a Dell. Im just wondering if the prices i see ($1200) Are worth the switch. I have not played hardly any games on my Acer because the framerates are to poor, but i am curious to play a bunch of new titles.
The Acer also has some impressive features like HD Audio, good range on the wireless card, DVD/Burner and other things im not sure i will find on a Dell.

The 7900GS owns the X1100 a thousand times over.

The difference is massive, as you know. You should consider the size of the Dell. It will be quite a jump to a 17" notebook. It will be cooler, and slightly bulkier, but it is an extremly powerful machine. I think you can find some of the other features in the Dell, although I'm not too sure.

I wouldn't suggest buying a notebook just for the 7900GS. That's like paying $1200 for a graphics card! If you like how your current notebook works, and just want to play some games at decent framerates, look into a desktop to complement your laptop. You can get a lot more performance that way for a lot less.

Cheap gaming desktops are pretty easy to come by, and building one yourself could get you more for even more less.
