Hello=)
I`m wondering to buy HP 8510p or Compal IFL 90+...
HP 8510p: HD 2600
Compal: 8600M GT (512 mem)
Can somebody here give me a exact answer what is the best graphic card?
Please answer=)
Thanks

There is no exact answer, as there's yet to be a good head to head review of the cards. If you're into overclocking, get the Compal, as the 8510p has problems with that as of now. Otherwise, the cards are pretty much neck and neck, with the HD2600 in the 8510p coming out slightly ahead on average. However, the Compal does have the remote possibility of upgrade options down the line, so you might consider that as well. In the end, I'd say you shouldn't let performance be a deciding factor between those two notebooks. Have you posted a FAQ in the What Notebook Should I Buy? section yet?

I think, based on info on the the net, that the HD 2600 is slightly slower than the 8600GT, while the HD 2600XT is pretty similar to the 8700 GT.
My advice, driver and performance-wise, go with the 8600 GT.Better drivers means better chance for better performance and compatibility with future products. -
That's generally true, although the 8510p has an (albeit underclocked) GDDR3 HD2600, which is slightly better than the DDR2 8600M-GT found in the Compal.
-
Or the 8510w, wich has a GDDR3 Quadro FX570M (8600M GT)

Take a look at this. http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2007/08/14/radeon_hd_2600_xt_vs_geforce_8600_gt/1
Now that is a desktop comparisson, but the proportions should stay the same in mobile world. As I said, go with the 8600GT, it`s a much better performer overall. -
Huh?
When I looked at the 2600XT GDDR4 benchmarks, it was better than the 8600GTS ??? -
Thanks for all replies=)
I can post in the FAQ=)
I also think that the 8600GT is better... Specially if you cant clock on HD 2600! I want to clock little bit=)
Thanks -
JCMS, the 2600XT is closer to the 8700 GT, but the HD 2600 is similar to the 8600GT,and that`s what the topic is all about. I don`t get what you don`t get

Ughghghghgh why don't people use the search button anymore
8600M GT GDDR3 > HD 2600 GDDR3 > 8600M GT DDR2 > HD 2600 DDR2
Regardless, you can't OC the 8510p's GPU so just get the Sager, since you can clock it up to match the HD 2600 GDDR3. -
And as I stated before, if you want to overclock, then yes, the Sager is probably the better choice. -
Hey people first post here, looks like a good forum. Well I did search first but I probably missed my question:
Is ATI Mobility Radeon 2600 HD 256 DDR2 with up to 1024 Hyper memory = Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT 256 DDR2 without Turbo Cache ?
I know they are almost the same but will Hyper Memory make the difference? -
Both cards with DDR2 memory are approximately the same performance-wise with the 8600GT slightly ahead in some cases. -
I've never seen anything about Turbo Cache on the 8600M GT. Does it goes by laptop? Because the Toshiba site states about the Hyper Memory for the ATI card unlike Dell. Dell only says that their memory can be shared, nothing about their 8600M GT actually using it.
Edit: I'm talking about the Dell Inspirion 1520 and the Toshiba Satellite A200-1J0. -
My dxdiag report confirms my approximate total video memory as 1774MB which is impossible on a 256MB dedicated card unless turbocache is supported. Dell probably thought the feature less worthy of publicity since shared memory technology doesn't actually perform as well as it should in theory. -
EDIT : my 7950GTX reports 1200 MB of graphics memory in vista 64. -
Ok so GeForce it is I guess. Thank you very much for your advise.

HD2600 DDR3 with the new bios can perform very well. People have gotten over 3800 (3886?) on the 3dmark06 benchmark test when they slightly OCed the card.

HD 2600 GDDR3 now = 8600 GT GDDR3! yay
