I noticed while playing games like Red Alert 3, COD5 and COD Modern warfare 2 my games start to freeze and my fps drop beyond playable after 40 mins of use.

I checked the temps and they average at 80-85 degrees on load and 60-63 idle. Now from reading other forums it seems this chip runs hot with the exception of the lucky few. I added additional heatsinks to the gpu and I have Cryo S cooler (Fans aren't working at this point awaiting replacement circuit board) to help elevate my ASUS M51SN. I noticed at times the fan speeds up for a short burst of seconds and then slows down.

I also cleaned out the dust and replaced the thermal paste.

I read somewhere that the 9500 m GS clocks down randomly under load due to a problem with the driver.
I am also using Driver version: 195.62 for Windows 7 64 bit

Goodness, use the Almighty 186.82 instead of the buggy-king 195.62.

It's weird that you have overheating problem.

My Geforce 9500M GS is working fine with OC and the max temperature is lower than yours a lot.

Should I use it with the modded INF? and is it 64 bit compatible? and on the contrary its an ASUS M51SN laptop, it comes "solidly built" with poor cooling.

By chance do you have the link?

lol sorry about the barrage of questions I found the link and I downloaded the drivers I am having problems installing it, it doesn't seem compatible with my hardware so I am guessing I need a modded INF file to make it work.

Just downloaded and installed it. I haven't been able to test it in gaming but I am just hoping I don't lose fps anymore. It drives me nuts especially when I am being surrounded by insurgents in COD and I am only getting 15 fps. I did clean my heatsink and replaced the thermal grease a couple weeks ago. The fan set up is of poor quality as with the design. The fan only kicks in when the cpu gets warm hence why my temps are high for my GPU.

I remember when I used to have that same GPU, it would always idle at 60C no matter what and would reach temps under load of 85C+. I recommend that you try 186.81 drivers as well as the other ones mentioned. 186.82 gave me Powermizer issues making my GPU stay at higher clocks unnecessarily after gaming had finished.

You can use Rivatuner's hardware monitor graph to see if / when your GPU is downclocking under load.

35 mins of play and I haven't seen extreme drops in fps, I am guessing my gpu is staying clocked @ 100%. I am guessing I should never trust the latest drivers by nvidia.
