i would like to know what temparature everyone with an nvidia 9500m gs has.i actually have 60c in idle and 78c while gaming. i would have expected lower temparatures because of the die shrink in comparison to the 8600m gt temparatures.

The fans probably come on to cool the cpu. Have you set your laptop to performance mode through power plan? It might help to get the fans running

skipp3r: You should try to see if you have fan control in RivaTuner or the new nTUNE program (Forget what it's called).

I have the same problem, and mine reaches a steady 94*C when overclocked playing Crysis. We need fan control with the nVIDIA drivers (nTune or RivaTuner). I've been using ForceWare, so I don't know if it's because I'm just running beta drivers or not, but I don't have fan control even when I enablebinary__ whatever in RivaTuner. I thought this was only because of lack of driver support in 64bit Windoze? Tell us if you get control skipp3r and we'll confirm...

Your temps seem pretty normal to me. I get roughly the same numbers with GPU OCed to 550/465 with a Zalman NC1000.

Have you tried lifting the notebook 1 inch from the flat surface, using a notebook stand (metal frames, wine corks etc)? There are vents at the bottom of the notebook.

Yup, that's what I've always done. I could OC my 8400GT to 700/700 and keep it at 73C. This 8800, no OC, runs at about 82C under load.

It is lower, I get 92C while gaming/max GPU load. I have the 8600mGT. However your idle temp seems a bit high, I rarely go over 55C when idle, even browsing the internet it doesn't go above that. It might be that PowerMizer isn't doing its job or is disabled, that way the GPU core is running at full speed all the time and gets warmer than it would, if PowerMizer was downclocking your GPU.

I'm idling at 60 C and haven't seen it go past 78 C while gaming.

So your temperatures seem fine to me :p

I get 81c after 20 minutes of gaming, and 87c while overclocked. 55c-59c while idling. I've been trying to find a way to make the fan faster. If there's any ideas. TIA

We need fan control. Anyone have any suggestions? RivaTuner and Nvidia Control Panel don't have the option for manual fan adjusting. (RivaTuner=No Fan Tab/NVIDIA=Greyed-Out Slider)

Depends on the physical component of your fan. Apparently you need four wires that connect the fan to the board to be able to control them properly. Although some have reported they can control them otherwise.

Well the latest drivers have the fan's blasting up and down with gpu temps., but the 100% fan threshold temp is 96C. Unfortunately for me, 96C is my chips downclocking threshold as well. So it's either a freeze up or a close save, everytime I reach this temp.

I even tried disabling all the powermizer options in the registry and it didn't help - I think the downclocking is the hardwired saver, so my only option is to try modify the video bios, but I'm waiting for it to be supported in Nibitor.
