Nvidia Driver's Thread

I couldn't find a good thread about drivers so hopefully this one will stay updated all the time. Currently I use 190.56 drivers, the newest ones are 191.00. Did anyone try them!? If so share your thoughts about performance.
With any new driver release, share your thoughts here.

Don't worry 19X.XX Drivers are not official(non-WHQL).
Basically, their performance is not as good as 18X.XX Drivers.
Because 19X.XX Drivers are made for Desktop currently and we're just modifying these drivers to allow them able to install into laptops/notebooks. So called Modded Drivers.
However, some people do have better performance with these Modded Drivers.
Yet, majority doesn't.
The best driver currently will be 186.82(not 186.81 from nvidia website), 186.42 and Dox's 185.85. Try these drivers and feel the difference!

gave me over 200 more 3rdmarks(dont realy care about benchmarks actually..real game results are important to me) and 48 fps average instead of 45 in resident evil 5 benchmark


far better then those "crappy" drivers that dox releases once in a while (i used DOX modded once months ago n it only made my gfx card temp go up. its not only me..many ppl have expirienced that..u can read about it on several forums)

 

I used to use the Xtreme-G drivers a long time ago. They were almost always the best available. Im glad they got back into the mobile scene.

 

I don't like XG drivers. LOL.
If not mistaken, those drivers are old, the latest one(mobile) is only 182.XX.
Moreover, XG drivers are not WHQL certified(means not official). Dox's Drivers are non-WHQL too. Dox's does give higher performance(but for me 186.82 is higher) but some of the users said Dox's Drivers increased the heat of the GPU. Yet, some users have totally no problems with Dox's Drivers.
Blu-Ray Playback can't be use on non-WHQL drivers(Dox's can play Blu-Ray).
Moreover, I found official 186.82/186.42 driver is the BEST so far for my machines and a lot of users here agree with it. It is WHQL certified. So, Blu-Ray Playback can be use. Official Driver is always safer to be used but those versions directly from Nvidia website always sucks. LOL. Better download them from Microsoft(Nvidia send their driver there). Don't worry about the Drivers from Microsoft, they are official(WHQL) and from Nvidia too. Just that Nvidia didn't release them on their website with unknown reason.

 

the xg drivers i use gave me the biggest boost in performance..n i tried like EVERY DOX driver for win xp he ever released. personaly i couldnt care less about bluray playback since i dont own a drive.

i know the drivers are "old" but it doesnt matter since they work perfectly fine,give me better game performance,dont raise my gpu temp.

but if ur lookin for "safe" drivers then take the ones with WHQL .

WHQL certified means Official.
It would mean that WHQL drivers are tested/confirmed by Microsoft and is safe to use. Non-WHQL drivers are mainly modded drivers such as Dox's and XG's as well as Desktop-Modded-Notebook drivers.

 

Depends on your card, but for 8600m gt ddr3, its 185.20 hands down.

Could well work for the 8600m gs since they both have very similar architectural design. Check out laptopdriver2go.com under their forums and look for some user feedback on performance for a 8600m gs. Its where I checked for my 8600mgt and the feedback has tested true.

 

I'm using Dox's 185.85 (system specs in sig), and they are performing admirably though I haven't compared them to the latest official ones.

 

I tend to prefer Dox's driver sets as he can squeeze every drop out of a card.
However, his latest are 185.85.

Note, for my setup, NOTHING comes close for actual game performance and stability. I haven't had any issues with heat or features not working, so I am pretty sure it isn't Dox's drivers that are the problem. You need to follow the instructions and do a clean driver install. Used as directed, Dox's driver sets get great performance in games with no downsides.

If you are a novice, use the latest official drivers.
If you want the most out of your nvidia card, use the latest Dox drivers.
