Any reason you specifically want something that runs hotter and slower than the competition? Got some CUDA apps you use or something?

 

I can't find any ati laptops that are 1000$ and give the same performance.
Or matter I can't find any ati laptops that are 1000$ and are local.

Do get me wrong I'm not fan boy but I just cant gauge what i need with ati.

I usually want the second best not the best. So its in my price range of 1000 to 1050$.

Also it would still be nice if anyone else's know about the subject in case anyone else is looking for the next 3XX.

 

HD5850 is second best for ATi on Notebooks.

A lot easier to understand to me for ATi than Nvidia. HD5870 then HD5850. Not like HD5850 GTX better than HD5870 GTS....

Believe someone bought the G73 from Best Buy for $1,200 which has the HD5870. For others, not sure look around. 2nd best is still usually beyond what you find in a HP/Dell, unless it's an Alienware. So you still need to look at reseller sites for MSI, Asus or Clevo.

 

I know, I looking around asus. But lets keep this back on topic of the title of the thread to keep it information.

basically, the 300 mobile series isn't better than the 200 series. it just fills in some holes in the lineup (sort of).

the gts 360m, for example, is slower than the gtx 260m. and there is no gtx 360m...

in fact, the gts 360m is the fastest 300 series card out... so it is pretty much pointless.

 

too true... the ATI 5850/5870 are good options...
