Hi recently there was a computer fair in malaysia and most of the never laptops found there were equipped with the Nvidia G105M gc but unlike all the rest Asus had the G102M gc.

i was wondering which gc is better?

They're both pretty bad for gaming since they're both using a 64-bit bandwidth. According to my list, the G 102M is actually faster than the 105M because it uses 55nm (vs. 105M's 65nm), and 16 shaders (vs. 8), though the clocks are slower.

Yes, if you game, consider something a little higher end.

9400M should still be better than the 102M.

Damn, the Hybrid graphics card(9400M G) on M17x is even more powerful than the these cards....that should tell you something.

How does the nVidia G102 compare with the HD3200 from ATi?

Perhaps performance-wise, but they are less power consuming than other dedicated cards according to nVidia. Back to my question please :D

Well according to notebookcheck, it seems the dedicated nvidia g102m only edges out the integrated ati hd3200 by a very small margin. Try to decide if the extra cost for dedicated graphics in a thin and light is worth it. Notebooks with the hd3200 are slightly bigger but quite a bit cheaper.

Its so confusing nowadays with the new integrated graphics outperforming dedicated ones...

ah, a fellow malaysian. i assume you're referring to the pikom PC fair :) lama i tak pergi haha.

well it depends what kind of gaming you're gonna do. these cards are perfect for occasional games, can play new stuff on low/very low and stuff thats 2 years old on high. they're also great for decoding HD video, and they both support CUDA, so i suppose if CUDA enabled applications get mainstream you can get a performance bump from them.

and there are some really great games out there from 2 years ago that the owner of these cards can play.

when i was laptopless for a month, i had loads of fun playing classic titles like no one lives forever, hitman, tomb raider, GTA 2 and III , serious sam, starcraft, on my girlfriend's acer which had a integrated intel X3100

whats your price range and what models are you looking at?
