Is this card still faster then most modern integrated graphics cards?

    Just something on my mind

Its an nvidia go 7600 with 256mb

Core clocked at 450mhz and memory is clocked at 380.

Nvidia Geforce Go 7600 should be slower than the Intel HD 3000 IGP in the new Sandy Bridge CPUs.
Then again the Intel IGPs got bested by AMDs top of the line Llano Fusion IGPs.

Go 7600 is too old to rival with the modern integrated graphics, it may have a chance beating intel's last generation IGP, but not a chance against intel's latest. Most of the recent IGPs from either AMD or Nvidia will tromp a go7600 handily too.

FWIW, I used to have an Everex XT5000t with an 7600 Go and it could barely play Call of Duty 4 on low settings -- which is not a demanding game.

I had a 17" Alienware laptop with a 2.26GHz Pentium M and a Go 6800, and it could play CoD 4 on low almost perfectly.

Then, I forgot to put the GPU heatsink on and I fried the 6800

Hmmm well that is kind of depressing

At least its dedicated so i don't have to share my ram or have other systems help it out

How would you rate an intel t7200 in todays world? I just bought one from ebay so i can install a 64 bit OS and use all 4gb's of my ram.

    Passmark:

    T7200: 1146

    i5-520UM: 1489

It's about 25% slower than the base processor in the Alienware M11x R2.

Since you got a Nvidia Geforce Go 7600 im guessing your mainboard will be the Intel 945 series, and sadly it doesent support 4gb ram usage, at least my notebook dident. D:
The next mainboard, Intel 965 fixed that limit.
You would still get the extra boost from the new CPU.

I believe the graphics lies between the old core 2 integrated graphics and the core i series integrated graphics.

It only had 8 shaders, though closer to the core i series.

Yeah and how much does one of those laptops cost?

Yes it has the intel 945 chipset but i can run 4gb's of ram. I have 4gb's of ram in it right now and the bios picks up it all. Im waiting to get the t7200 to install the 64 BIT os and take advantage of all my ram.

Its a realy nice laptop its the most top of the line one you could buy. I got it from ebay for $170 shipped and have been upgrading the out of it to make it as fast as possible

    Specs

    Hp dv8000t CTO
    Nvidia 7600 GO with 256mb's ddr2 vram
    4gb's pc-6400 ram
currently an intel core duo t2500 but soon to be an intel core 2 duo t7200
Dual samsung HM250HJ 250gb hard drives
The uber rare 1680x1050 resolution screen
    uber rare HP bluetooth

I've been running windows 7 on it and have been very pleased with the preformance. The laptop is only missing 2 things, an hdmi port and a webcam but both of those don't bothter me much.

You could have got a newer laptop, like a Inspiron 1520 for about 50€ from ebay, which is much more powerful. It has a i965 chipset, which can take 4Gb DDR2, a much better GPU and the 1440x900 screen was the best of its class in 2007!
For about the money you paid, you could have bough a XPS 1530, which is even better.

50 euros? Im not sure where you're getting those numbers from but most of the ones on ebay were selling for a bit more then that and i just checked

And to top it off that is a 15 inch screen laptop with lower resolution and can only hold 1 hard drive as well as most of those have integrated graphics. To get a good one of those would cost me more then this and personally i think those generic dells look cheap.

The dell xps 1530 i would never even consider even if i liked dells. What the hell was dell thinking putting an nvidia 8600 in a laptop that small?

And the intel 945 chipset can take 4gb's of ram... Im running 4gb's right now in the laptop with no bios problems ( just need to install a 64 bit OS )

Anyways this thread is not about what you thought i should have bought. I like HP laptops and i've always loved the dv5000/8000 series. I almost bought one new a few years back but i ended up with a dv6000. If hp made a throw back dv8000 with modern hardware i would be first in line to buy it. From my experience its one of their nicest and well built laptops ( and i've owned, had for a few weeks or worked with a zd7000 zd8000 zv5000 zv6000 dv6000 dv6500 dv9000 dv2000 dv1000 and the 1st gen dv7 all at one point in time )

so havve you made any benchmarks, because i want to buy a Dv 8000 (possibly install a diy vidock so increase the graphics) and use the 7600 for mobile (want to see if it can surpass my quadro 140m)
