I'm really confused by Nvidia's latest offerings. With all the talk about this a rebranded that, and this had a high clock but less stream processors, etc...I don't know what's what. So, what is the correct order, from least powerful to most powerful in the following cards (listed in alphanumeric order): 8800M GT, 8800M GTS, 8800M GTX, 9800M GT, 9800M GTS, 9800M GTX.

Note: most important part is to stick to 256mbit GPUs, as it's a big drop down to 128mbit. -

The 9800M GTS has a higher Core and Shader clock speed than the 9800M GT and 9800M GTX - 600 and 1500, vs 500 and 1250. So why is it slower? Is it because of stream processors 64 vs 96 and 112?

There was a discussion about if the 9800m GTS did really beat the 8800m GTX / 9800m GT in this same thread (Games And Graphics Cards), the conclusion was that the 8800m GTX / 9800m GT and 9800m GTX were stronger than the 9800m GTS, especially at shader-intensive games where their higher count of shader processors would show their real muscle (the real testing starts at around the last 5-6 pages of the thread, because the Crysis Benchmarking Tool had a bug in it, and the tests had to be re-done working around the bug):

Although the 9800m GTS is a great bang for the buck graphics card, that is for sure. -
It's more like:
stock: 8800m GTS< 9800m GTS <by 1%8800m GTX = 9800m GT < 9800m GTX.
overclocked: 8800m GTS< 9800m GTS <8800m GTX = 9800m GT < 9800m GTX.
In other words, if you don't overclock your video cards, the 9800M GTS is just as powerful as the 8800M GTX or 9800M GT... well within 1%
