I've been looking for info on this card and can't really find anything.Just wondering if anyone here has experience with it? Also will it be future proof for 2-3 yrs or should I wait for the 700M series? The reason I mention this is because I'm looking at the bestbuy G75VX and it sounds like the next intel and Nvidia chips won't be out for a few months and my Toshiba is on its last legs. Cyberpower has the 675MX for similar price but I hear they use the MSI chassis and I here that they have the shiny plastic which I abely hate on my Toshiba, oh yeah and that lid is atrocious.
Any other good brands I can look at in the $1200-1300 range? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I would say don't buy Asus (it was a mistake for me). A 9.2 pound laptop which takes more space than fully upgrade-able m17x, are you kidding me? I just hate its form-factor.

    Agreed.

OP, for your budget, I would look into Sager/Clevo models (NP9130, NP9150 and NP9170 are good options.) They offer the best bang for your buck in this price range. If you're willing to go upmarket some, then the Alienware M17x gets my vote. It may seem overpriced based on the website's quotes, but you can get them for significantly less by calling in and speaking with a rep. They've got the best cooling/build quality in their class in my opinion.

As for whether or not you should wait for the 7xxm series, that's hard to say. The most important factor is how well your current laptop is holding up. Will it get you through potentially months of waiting, or is it already dying? Another point to consider is we're not sure when next gen GPUs will release. It could be as early as June/July, or it could be later in the year. If you're prepared to wait for their release, you'll benefit from a healthy performance increase long-term. I would go ahead and buy now if your current laptop won't last you until then though. The 7xx cards won't be a massive jump in performance like the 6xx, so it's not like a 675mx or 680m will be completely outdated once the 7xx is out.

Well if your laptop doesn't die on you than I'd say wait out and save up a bit more. The 770m is likely to be a rebadged 680m. In a Sager/Clevo you could get it at a pretty good price. It would be far more future proof than the 670mx which is brutally bottlenecked by it's low memory bandwidth. Those Asus machines really aren't worth it. Their screens are low quality and I hear their warranty isn't great either.

Yeah I went on Asus forums and am leary about there customer support. I am kinda leaning toward Sager over Alienware unless I could get a comparable system for a similar dollar amount. I have heard some negative things about clevo barebones as well but the upgradeability seems like it would be alot more future proof. I kinda want Nvidia and with the exception of Cyberpower (ugly cases and the lid is ridiculous) the 680M is about $350-400 upgrade so I'll probably lean towards the 675MX.

The 675mx isn't bad. With an unlocked bios it can overclock up to around 1ghz. At those clocks it's about equal to a bit faster than a stock 680m. You just need some good thermal paste and high quality thermal pads to keep everything cool. Also. Clevo heatsinks never align properly with the fans so you'll need some tape around them to optimize the air flow. All that's about 50 bucks or less. Better than the 350-400 buck upgrade. lol With Alienware you wouldn't need these cooling mods. The m17x's cooling is superb. With that you'd only need to change the stock thermal paste to high end one like ICD 7 or arctic mx-4. After that you could overclock the crap out of it and still not brake 80c. :D

I'd still recommend waiting though. Like I said. The 770m will probably be the 680m at a significantly lower price. The 760m will probably be the 675mx so you can end up saving more or getting the current top dog for a lower price. Of course these last few sentences are just speculation. Nothing is concrete at this point. The new gpu's will probably release in June with the Haswell cpu's.
