Today I download the nvidia mobile driver 173.80 from station-drivers.com.I try to modify it to work with my 8600M GT,but i found interesting info from the original inf . It's 9800M GTS .
I quickly went to lv2go.com & download the 173.80 modded inf to see hardware IDs of 8800GTS & GTX (I wanna make sure this is new HW ID not the well known 8800 series). Finally I found this is new one not the old 8800M .Looks like 9800M GTS is around the coner...... :D

You can download 173.80 Mobile driver From here

Here's the info from 173.80 original inf
These are the hardware IDs of 8800M series(From LV2g0.com modded 173.80 Inf)

heh me thinks we'll see them with montevina (and ati/amd new gpus). and it might be just the 8800 shrinked thus less chance to boil your eggs :p

The interesting part is the Device ID matches the desktop GF9600, so it'll be interesting to see what the differences will be with the GF8800M series and whether there's any overlap with the GTX.

Depends on what you mean by 'out'.

They are turning up in a bunch of early benchmarks/reviews, even in those that aren't about the GF9600 itself, like one memory review that just happened to have the GF9600 in the profile.

I think it was www.slashdot.com where I saw the first photos of the 9800. If im not mistaken they are following the trend of ATI and doing Multi GPU on 1 card. So it'll be pretty much SLI on a single Video card.

The big question is - Given Nvidia bought Ageia(sp) Physics cards, When will the Dual GPU + Dual PPU Card hit the market? :)

The photos look almost like they are suppose to be funny. The cards are nearly larger than the Motherboard itself. NVidia is shocked that ATI pwned their 8800 and is striking back with the 9800.

If this 9800M-GTS follows the same trend as the 9300M and the 9500M, then it will have the same specifications as the 8800M-GTS. There's no telling yet though. Great find!

When is this software upgrade expected to release? Is it through a newer nvidia driver? So basically a 8800M GTX will have AGEIA physX capabilities ?
Haha screw Dell for selling AGEIA physX cards with their gaming XPS laptops :p

Yeah just don't expect those bottom 4 or 6 to do much of anything with it, they'll have a tough enough time with the graphics alone, but maybe as asymmertic SLi they'd be useful.

But the 9300 & 9500 are G84 though. According to the specs leaked, the 9600GT has the same specs as the 8800M GTS

Could someone help me find a driver for the 8800M GTS?? I have the HP HDX but when I wiped out the factory installation for a plain vista ultimate one, I lost my drivers and I can't find them anywhere.
Even if someone could tell me how to use a different driver with a modded .inf file, I'm cool with that too. Just something besides this Standard VGA Adapter I'm dealing with right now!!!

I downloaded two drivers and added the line from the .inf file to the .inf file for each one but the installation failed saying there was no hardware for the driver.
That was when I posted, hoping there might be a driver just for the 8800M GTS that I could find...maybe that would work.
Is there a reason the driver for this card is so hard, if not impossible, to find?

There are 2 lines to add, just take the already modified .inf and change it.

@TheGreatG****Ape: I frankly didn't a difference on the performances between hardware physics ON/OFF under UT3. It might just have its own unit, like AF on the Geforce & AA on DX10.1 cards.

That's funny, last I checked the 8800 completely pwned the 2900 XT...at DX10 nonetheless, the one area ATI was supposed to stomp nVidia

Either he is referring to the 3870 (wtf? your first card is that number? confusing...) which did not beat the 8800 that bad... or he is just an ATI fan in complete and utter denial.

    Is this real?

    meh...

If I am getting a Laptop for college (got to be the most common scenario) and I want a 15" form factor that can max out games on an external 1650x1080 screen... montevina may be worth waiting for?

If I don't need it until early August.... meh... guess I should

The 9600M GT should be released this spring, and if we assume based on the desktop one, I'd say it should be on par with the 8800M GTS, or even a bit better.

No way will the laptop one be released this Spring, that is way too early. The desktop one just came out. It will be out by Summer, most likely the end of Summer.

    Crimsonman was correct.

I just received the Gateway P-7811FX made exclusively for BB.

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8892825&type=product&id=1211587727985

Freaking awesome machine for the money.

Problem is, there are no drivers for the 9800M GTS at Nvidia. It is considered a proprietary OEM Video Card, which I HATE.

You guys have any suggestions for staying up to date driver wise with this card, since I can't rely upon Gateway.
