Lovely. New is as always better @Mr. Fox @Falkentyne

You're all welcome to the barbeque party. Let's see how much this driver will destroy for the users :p Please post bench results. Maybe Ultra Male will test it on his smokin Area-51m ? Hope it doesn't run into THIS!

Integer Scaling to 16/20 series, renamed a few settings to make the "Anti Lag" more obvious.

It should also have the cursor corruption fix for any computers with a dGPU directly attached to the monitor.

    All the links are down.
Seems NVidia has pulled the driver because there is a bug in it which causes Geforce Experience to install even if the user does not select it.

But as we wait, someone could tell me what is ultra low latency mode ?

It's basically the max prerendered frames setting enhanced as they're trying to explain.

"Low Latency modes have the most impact when your game is GPU bound, and framerates are between 60 and 100 FPS, enabling you to get the responsiveness of high-framerate gaming without having to decrease graphical fidelity.

To select a Low Latency mode, open the NVIDIA Control Panel, head to “Manage 3D Settings”, and scroll down to “Low Latency Mode”. Three options are available:

    • Off: The game’s engine will automatically queue 1-3 frames for maximum render throughput
    • On: Limits the number of queued frames to 1. This is the same setting as “Max_Prerendered_Frames = 1” from prior drivers
    • Ultra: Submits the frame just in time for the GPU to pick it up and start rendering"
    Source: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/news/gamescom-2019-game-ready-driver/

    Have a good read! ;)

Seems most gaming notebook users won’t be able to make use of the new Ultra-Low Latency Mode as the release notes mention it being unsupported in SLI, low-level APIs (DX12/Vulkan), and MSHybrid (Optimus).

Also the fact that integer scaling is locked to Turing GPUs on W10 seems like nothing but a stupid artificial limitation. “Thanks to a hardware-accelerated programmable scaling filter available in Turing, GPU Integer Scaling is finally possible!” sounds like a crock of marketing BS. Integer scaling is the oldest and most basic algorithm and has been available in third-party software for years without requiring any specialized hardware whatsoever.

Tried out the new NVidia driver. The same or slightly lower 3DMark & Timespy results. Tried in BF1 with Ultra Low Latency selected in NVidia driver - didn't actively notice any reduction in latency, but think I saw some slightly lower framerates in some places and perhaps a bit more stutter, I didn't play any better with it selected (but hard to tell because each lobby is different with different players). I think I'm gonna put the Latency settings back to default in the NVidia driver and wait for some official sites to do a latency and framerate analysis of this new driver/feature, because it seems that we might lose smoothness and framerate by activating the Ultra Low Latency option.

(I'm already at 180 fps in BF1, so perhaps at that framerate there's not much reduction in latency to be had anyway by this new Ultra Low Latency option in the NVidia Control Panel.)

EDIT: some further testing comparing Ultra Low Latency vs "Normal". In BF1 I ran around the same empty server comparing frame rate drops and there was no difference between the two, it was also just as smooth. I chose a map where it would occasionally drop below my 177fps limit that I've set so I could see if the dips happened more often when Ultra Low Latency was set. So that's a positive, looks like my earlier impressions might have been a bit too subjective. Also maybe slightly more crisp response from mouse movement with Ultra Low Latency selected.

Also tested in Far Cry 5 in the benchmark, Ultra Low Latency setting didn't reduce framerate on that benchmark either.

Looks like Ultra Low Latency is a keeper for now, will see how it goes with any further gaming I do.

Ultra-low latency mode works similarly to RAL in that a reduction in driver lag is most noticeably felt when the game is GPU-bound at lower frame rates. At that frame rate with your specs, I’m assuming you are playing BF1 on the lowest settings in a small mode like TDM, so you are probably CPU-bound.

Lovely as usual...[IMG]One month without pushing out new drivers means they are rusty and need come back on track again. See... New drivers two times a month.. First the WHQL then the Hotfix. One month between them means only more problems than usual:vbbiggrin:

NVIDIA 436.02 Installer Buggy, Always Installs GeForce Experience, No GDPR Consent

NVIDIA today released its GeForce 436.02 WHQL Gamescom Special graphics drivers. You can read all about them here. The installer of these drivers appears to have a major bug that forces the installation of GeForce Experience without obtaining GDPR-compliant consent from the user. With the ratification of GDPR, NVIDIA driver installers present a selection screen right at the start of the installation, which lets users opt to install GeForce Experience (and give their GDPR consent in doing so), but a second option lets users decline GDPR consent, forcing the installer to install GeForce drivers without GeForce Experience. A bug with the installer of GeForce 436.02 WHQL disregards the user's choice at this screen, and installs GeForce Experience without the GDPR-mandated user-consent.

Making matters far worse is the fact that you cannot deselect GeForce Experience from the list of components in the Custom Install screen. The Custom Install list lets you make the installer skip installation of optional components that are otherwise installed by default in Express Install (GeForce Experience features in this list only if a user gives GDPR consent in the previous screen). We're hoping that this is a simple installer bug by NVIDIA, because anything worse would put the company in violation of EU privacy laws. We at TechPowerUp are in the final stages of developing a free utility that lets users take complete control over their NVIDIA graphics driver installation, called NVCleanstall. Using this software you may skip lot more optional components than what the NVIDIA Installer allows, such as Telemetry. Grab a beta version of NVCleanstall from here.

Update 16:27 UTC: NVIDIA has removed the 436.02 drivers from their website, and confirmed that this is a bug.

Yea, tried it with ROTTR and Metro 2033 Redux with Ultra low latency setting. ROTTR does not really look much better than 430.86, however Metro is actually worse, much smoother and no stuttering with 430.86 but microstuttering with Ultra low latency setting on 436.02.

Don’t expect a universal benefit with ultra-low latency mode, so it’s not a good idea to enable it globally. It should be used on a case-by-case basis after testing. There’s a reason Nvidia removed MPRF 0 from the driver years ago, and AFAICT ultra-low latency mode is the return of that.

Most of the time I'm not CPU bound nor GPU bound as I cap it at 177fps and average GPU load is 90% - so sometimes it's GPU bound but not that often. It's rarely CPU bound either, sometimes on some maps like Amiens that have high CPU usage. I'm playing BF1 on maxed out settings except no AA, medium Post Processing, and medium Lighting Quality. I've done some more testing in an empty server under more controlled conditions and updated my prior post - I'm a bit more upbeat about Ultra Low Latency option now.

I've wanted that integer scaling for a loooooong time. Finally people can use lower than native res without interpolation artifacts.

When using this mode in games, say 1920x1080 on a 2560x1440 monitor, is it supposed to have black bars all the way around?

I believe it's for being able to use a factorial like 2160p native with 1080p rendering without interpolation artifacts from upsampling. I don't think it would work well using fractional scaling as it's not an even number of pixels, but I haven't tried it yet.

It should be a boon for people with 4K panels that want to render at 1080p. Remains to be seen I guess

You would need to use 1280x720 to not have black bars, since it scales up exactly 2x in each dimension to 2560x1440.

I eventually figured that out. In most games I tried, 1280x720 on a 1440p monitor works pretty well. An exception is Quake 2 RTX. Even setting the resolution scale to 150%, 720p looks blurry and washed out. Using 1080p full-screen and 100% scaling looks better, as does 1440p with an 80% scale.

So I want to get 1440p on my 4K monitor, any idea how to do this with the integer setting? I tried it and it just was 1440p with huge black area around it.

You have to use the proper half resolution in order to not have the black bars, so 1080p on a 4K display. Maybe proper full-screen support for non-scaled resolutions is forthcoming since NVIDIA is calling this feature a beta, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting.

Tested the modded driver and the screen flickering issue with G-Sync on Clevo P775TM1-G+RTX 2080 is back. I tried ROTTR and Metro 2033 Redux and on loading screens I saw horrible screen flickering. So such issue with untouched NVidia driver.

I’ve had this issue as well since the first 430 driver. 425.31 is the last driver that doesn’t have G-Sync flickering for me.

Something is up with J95's G-Sync tweaking because there is no flickering with NVidia's inf. The modded driver is smoother in game, however the flickering is a deal breaker for me.

Ah it’s a modded driver issue for you. I don’t use modded drivers and have had the flickering on all 43x drivers.

Ok for some reason windows installed automatically a DCH driver and no matter what I do I just cannot revert back to normal drivers. The drivers wouldn't detected the GPU, am I stuck forever or there is something I am missing?

DCH Drivers cannot be installed over a Standard Drivers, and Standard Drivers cannot be installed over a DCH Drivers. The choice must be made after a cleaning via DDU. A very nice move from Micro$haft. They know what's best for yooo. What's better than throw on you their DCH filthy? o_O

    Tested this? Remember disconnect network(wifi/ethernet).

If you already have DCH drivers installed. Uninstall NVCPL (or use REVO Uninstaller under win10 APPS/UWP option). Then go to "Programs & Features" and uninstall first PhysX then Graphics without rebooting. Go to device manager uninstall nV HDAUDIO "incl. driver software" checked. Reboot into safe mode, run DDU "Clean and Shutdown" or Clean and re-start.

You could also re-boot spam F8 and click DISABLE DRIVER SIGNATURE ENFORCEMENT. But you'll need do some changes in Win10 first because 'F8' Boot options 'Safe Mode' & 'Disable driver Signing' won't work anymore as with Win 7/8.1

    cmd (Admin)
    bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy

Once booted, Run Driver Store Explorer and see if there is leftovers. I mean the newest version is 0.10.54. Still leftovers, delet it and reboot and do same procedure as above.

I tried all of this and the standard driver package cannot detect my GPU at all instead of giving me warning that only DCH driver is possible ... /Facepalm

The PB51EF ... I stopped updating the drivers of the 980Ms, brings usually more harm than good.

j95 drivers exhibit the same behavior.

Is there any difference between the DCH and non-DCH drivers?

What is the difference between NVIDIA Standard and DCH Display Drivers?
Microsoft DCH (Declarative Componentized Hardware supported apps) drivers refers to a new Windows 10 driver package preinstalled by OEMS implementing the Microsoft Universal Driver paradigm. While the base core component files remain the same, the way DCH drivers are packaged differs from previous Legacy (Standard) drivers.

The control panel that you usually see in Microsoft Store are usually for DCH drivers, you may see this for other hardware as well such as Audio or Chipset. Nothing wrong with them, eventually everything will be Windows DCH.

I too had to install DCH when installing my RTX 2080, never had a problem with standard on my RTX 2070 so I thought it was my card at first. After installing the DCH drivers the 2080 worked fine with no problems.

So DCH drivers simply have better compatibility?

I guess you can say that but overall they're the same drivers. If you want to use the control panel from the M$ store you'll need DCH drivers, otherwise the standard drivers will have their own version.

Yes and no. The "driver" is exactly the same. The way it is packaged is totally different and driven by ulterior motives that facilitate greater control by Micro$lop and manipulation of end-users. Read the detailed analysis below.
No, they have dramatically reduced compatibility.
