    hey folks,
I can't seem to find any information of the following graphics card:

    512MB GDDR3 Nvidia GeForce Go 9600M GE; 16x PCIe; DX10; Modular VGA

It is available as a graphics card for the EUROCOM M860TU Montebello (Sager/Clevo).

Any information on this card would be greatly appreciated. Specifically, how it ranks up against the 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT found in a Dell XPS M1530, and its' longevity with regards to games coming out in the future.

    Thanks for all the help!

I'm pretty sure it's a GT. The 9600M GT GDDR3 is comparable to the 8700M GT

I think the clocks of the 9600m GT is 600/1500/800, I read that somewhere.

I'm sure you could easily overclock the one in the Dell to 600/1500/800 and between the 256mb and 512mb I don't think it would make much of a difference considering it's only 128-bit.

The 9600M GT consumes less, heat less and can be OCed too.

I mean ya the 9600 GT will be better ... but I think that it's probably quite minimal. But it also depends if it has GDDR3 or not because I have seen the 8600 GT with GDDR3 outperform the 9500m series graphics cards. So i just cant imagine the 9600 being all that good.

9500M GS and 8600M GT are the same cards, 9600M GT is a die shrunk 8700M GT. In term of 3dmark alone, it's 3700 VS 4700.

Yeah... there's quite a difference. You could buy the 8600m GT, OC it like hell, shortening the life span of your notebook, just to match the 9600m GT. Or, just buy the 9600m GT.

Don't bother with the 8600m GT. Nor the 9600m GT. This generation, you can get so much better in 15" like the 9700m GT/GTS and the 9800m GTS/GT. There's really no point settling for less if you're an avid gamer.

Back to the point, the 9600m GT will last you long enough. Maybe another couple years of latest games.

They've updated that page quite a lot, including the video card options. I'm not sure if it's a typo.

I'd probably order one with the 3870.

I really doubt that any graphics card can handle the latest games at decent settings couple years down the road. but it powerful enough if you are anything short of a hard core gamer

I'm going to call and ask. That would be a pretty big mistake to make if you want to be taken seriously (by me at least). The last thing you want is to find out that this 'ge' is < gt after you ordered.

Yeah it may be GS in the end.... But then again, only $100 between it and 3870...

there doesn't seem to be any information anywhere about a 'GE' class card... unless I don't know how to use the internet! I really think it's a typo...
