Does anyone know when the 9800 GTX is going to come out? I'm considering getting a alienware m17x with dual 8800 GTXs... So.. i'm not sure if it would be wise to get something that is top of the line now that maybe be runner up in just a month or 2?

the 9800m gtx is the same as the single 8800 gtx, just runs cooler. so if u want to wait go ahead.

a 9800GTX SLI wont do much difference over 8800GTX SLI. (from none to slim)

If you're gonna wait for the "Top of the line, trump them all for years" system, then get you a chair, cause you'll be a waiting a while.

Buy what's the best now... that's all you can do. You want to stay updated with technology? Buy a desktop.

You are incorrect. It depends on what you mean. You say the "8800 gtx". Does that mean the desktop card or did you mean 8800m GTX?

Either way you are wrong. The 9800m GTX is not as powerful as a desktop 8800GTX and it is at least 10% more powerful than a 8800m GTX. The 9800m GTX has 112 shader pipelines while the 8800m GTX has 96 shader pipelines.

Hmm is there any specs out at all for 9800m GTX? Since all say there will be 112 SP´s. Got any link to that?

As Dreidel said, there isn't any offical review nor detailed specification, too early for making such a judge. And I don't know how could 10-20% difference qualified as "none to slim". Nvidia put 9800m gtx spec on few weeks ago, however, for some reasons they pulled that off. 112SP is confirmed.

As Nirvana said, the nVidia site accidentally posted the specs for a bunch of high-end 9 series cards that you could access by adjusting the url. I saw with my own eyes, the 9800m GTX will have 112 Shader Pipelines. However, they tore those sites down. I think they put them up on purpose (in order to create hype).

It's not gonna run cooler, but 112SP against 96, look GTS 640 VS GT 512.

Ah allright very nice I must say, at least a small increase. Now the 9800m GTX is a real desktop 8800GT. Though I would have been more positive if it were 128 sp´s instead like the real 8800GTX and 9800GTX.

    I don't think it was possibl.e I believe Clevo confirmed that a 9800M GTX wasn't possible in a 15'' like the 8800M GTX is so maybe 128 isn't even on17''
. The G92 is getting a 55nm refresh (9800 GTX+) so we can still hope to see a 128SP card.

    Not true.
    1) 8800 GTS > 8800 GT
    2) 9800m GTX > 8800m GTX
    3) 8800m GTX = 8800 GTS.
    so 9800m GTX /= 8800 GT

you missed new and old version of GTS

    "New" 8800GTS 512MB > 8800GT > "Old" 8800GTS 640MB
