    Hello Guys,

i have a Dell XPS 15 with GT 525M GPU. I am not satisfied with its performance. It struggles to render particles effects, fog volumes and shadows. The FPS goes down by almost 50% when these things happen on the the screen. I usually disable shadows, but most of the games doesn't have the option to lower fog volumes and particle settings.

Anyone has the same issue? is this the nature of the GPU or is there something wrong with my card?

The 525m is not a highend gaming GPU. More info can be found here: NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M - Notebookcheck.net Tech
Scroll down to game benchmarks to get an idea of it's performance. It should be able to play games on low to medium settings.

Also, ensure you have the latest Geforce drivers, I think 306 WHQL drivers just came out.

    Good luck

The new driver made my XPS15 L502x feels a bit more sluggish.

Probably going to revert back to the previous one.
Windows score drops down to 5 for some reason for both gaming and aero graphics.

I use MSI Afterbuner 2.2.3 to OC the GPU (I undervolt the GPU to 0.85V) to 700 (Which rarely crash on me). I found there is a significant performance gain from that. 10 to 15%. Try it if you want.

Are you referring to the Nvidia driver or DELL drivers?

The Nvidia one. Tried 306.23, kind of sucked for me. So reverted back to 301.42

Now my windows score is back to 6.9

Just to let you know, it's not a high-end gaming GPU, that's obvious, but it packs some power.

This is the highest I can get from it :
NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2630QM Processor,Dell Inc. unknown score: P6000 3DMarks

If you have 1080p screen, you'll not get a very satisfying gaming experience.
If you have 768p screen like me, you'll be able to play most games on medium settings, I even played Max Payne 3 in DirectX 11 and medium settings.

I'm playing my 2nd playthrough in Mass Effect 3 on these settings :

    Sleeping Dogs ( OC'd GPU to 716Mhz ) :

Oh, and don't forget to update your drivers to the latest 306.23.

    Good luck :)
