ATI has had trouble keeping up with nVidia's midline offerings for some time now. The 6600GT rocked and now the 7600GT is tearing up the scene. I wouldn't be suprised if the 7600GO beats my 7800GO in a few benchmarks.

Those benchmarks for the x1600 are very low compared to other systems. I would say that the A6000 has a 128mb version of the card. The Asus W3j (another 14 inch Asus notebook with 256mb x1600) is benchmarking a little bit above the benchmarks of the A8jm in that review.

If you google the A6000KT, you find that it has a 512 MB X1600. See here:

Yea, i know the numbers seems smaller then what others have benchmarked.

the benchmarks look very inaccurate. i have yet to see an x1600 score less than 3000. i wouldn't base anything on them.

Those benchmarks for the X1600 are well off what most people are reporting around here as was said. Judging from how the Go7600 benchmarked in that article, it should be right up there with the X1600.

    That benchmark is nonsense.

There are many factors to consider, not just one asus vs another asus. One maybe heavily underclocked and the other isn't. I have seen people posting 4500 3Dmarks05 for x1600 which whoops the 7600. Its probably just as easy to find a benchmark which says the complete opposite. (although I have seen less 7600 in laptops than x1600). They pretty much level performers...

The Mobility X1600 in the tested model is clocked differently than a standard X1600, hence why the Geforce Go7600 is "wiping the floor" with it.

If they tested it against the Asus W3J, you would notice that they are basically neck and neck (besides the obvious, Doomed III).

Hi-end models have X1600 with DDR3 instead of DDR2, that's why there is a noticable diffrence between for example A6j vs W3j and that's why in this test X1600 is so bad.

all of a6kt 's x1600 only has 128mb video memory, i'm SURE of it, since my friend has it.. it only scored about 2800 in 3dmark05. the 512 mb is achieved by hypermemory only..

I think the x1600 with 256mbs are all using ddr3 rite? they should score about 4000 with stock core.... so do geforce7600...

No, it is not true. A6j have 256 X1600 and vave DDR2 and W3j have DDR3 (i checked it with my friend's laptop so it's for sure).

The the x1600pro and x1600xt have the same difference, and it makes the x1600xt a lot faster, maybe I should point this out in my charts if it becomes an issue, on paper the propper x1600 and 7600go are going to be very similar as shown in my charts.

And the ones sold a least in Italy and Germany have a bus set at 64-bit, with performance consequently crippled. Be careful with those.

    Which ones ? Go7600 (DDR2), Go7600(DDR3) or X1600(DDR2), X1600(DDR3)

These 4 are totally diffrent cards.

    A8Jm is 1000x better then the A6kt, because, it has Go7600 with DDR3 !!!!!!
    And A6j has [edited by moderator] low-end X1600 with 256/256 shared DDR2 memory !!!!!!

I wouldn't recommend A6 series to anyone, your getting X700, or even worse performance for the price of X1600.

Dont buy A6j !!!! Never, ever, ever !! (Only if you like being ripped off.)

v8kozik can you tell me what is wrong with you?! A6j with X1600 DDR2 has about 4400-4500 in 05 and X700 has about 3000 so I think these are not the same values don't you think. Not to mention X1600 with DDR3 with 4800 score after OCing. Low-end X1600? please, use your brain from time to time.
