I wonder if you can order a brand new one from RJTech directly?

you don't need to purchase a heatsink. Reuse the old one.

Buy a Mobility 5850 or 5870. Any reason you're looking at the weaker, more expensive options from Nvidia.

    Lack of knowledge.
Besides the Nvidia 480M is the 5870 the strongest Laptop card as of now?

well, the 285 will defeat the 5870 in a couple of areas. It's not like it totally dominates it everywhere. The main, big difference is it has Directx 11 support. Although it's debatable so far whether it can run directx 11 in current games or not. Otherwise, it's the more popular choice, it's cheaper, people already use it in the M15x and it's as good if not a smige better most of the time, yes.

I have yet to see where HD5870M isn't more than 30% faster than a GTX 285M in a game personally.
    - HD5870M has twice the computational power of a GTX 480M and almost 1/3 more texture fill rate. The fact that it doesn't perform even better is the fault of game developers IMO.
    - Game like Crysis, Dirt 2 and BC2 really shows off how capable the HD5870M is. Using half the power, and costing more than half of the GTX 480M and it still cranks out 44 FPS in Dirt 2, 50-60 FPS in BC2 and 34 FPS in Crysis (High).

Don't underhand the affordable HD5870M, it's far more capable than you let on. And for BC2, Dirt 2, STALKER, it's full on DX11 with no problems cranking out smooth, awesome framerate, tessellation and DirectCompute.
