Seems like Nvidia may offer the ION2 as a mini-PCI-e card, in response to the new Intel Atoms having their own on-chip memory controller and graphics:
http://www.liliputing.com/2009/12/could-nvidia-offer-ion-2-as-a-netbook-upgrade-on-a-pcie-card.html
If this is true, it could mean upgradeable notebook graphics for the masses! I thought this might be interesting to the people working on the DIY Vidock project going on here! (I just keep disappearing because of all the work that pops up lol)
But of course we shouldn't get our hopes up, as we don't know if they will actually be able to figure out a way to use the internal LCD screen of the notebook. But who knows, they may be able to develop some software (driver) to get the job done...
Also, Broadcom is bringing out a mini-PCI-e card to decode 1080p video for netbooks, so maybe Nvidia could get the job done with a similar software design:

I wish there was a way to contact Nvidia and push them to carry out with this plan![]()
Considering that the original ION easily outperforms the Radeon HD3200, it will be very interesting to see what ION2 brings to the table...

I think this was already brought up somewere, will try to find the thread. But main concern is with cooling.

If it was a PCI-e card, would it not be compatible with not only netbooks, but CULV/laptops as well?
