I'm thinking of buying an HP Elitebook 8540p, and I'm just wondering how good the NVS 5100m is for gaming. Is the performance a lot worse than the HD 4670, or are they about equal?

    Any help is appreciated :)

Is this card even out yet btw?
Since the HP 8540p isn't available here in Norway.

it's worse i think.. ur going to need an FX3800M for better or one of those high end ATI professional cards based on HD5870... and yes this laptop is out everywhere else... ur really cheaper option would be to get a laptop with HD5870 like Asus G73 or Sager NP8690 , NP8790... they'll perform way better than both of the earlier ones and should be cheaper.. will do professional stuff well too...

You can not recommend the G73/Clevo for every situation!

The GPU looks like it's based from the GT 330M, fyi. I don't know it's distinction from the FX 880M.

It should be the same chip as the FX 880M. Though I believe the NVS 5100M is supposed to be clocked below the GT 330M slightly.

Yes they are the same, just that the workstation graphics card have different drivers that is more openGL optimized.

Actually, I'm so sick of recommending G73/Clevo to every 15-17" gaming/3d graphics situation I don't even want to bother replying anymore, but for price/performance, they really are the best choice in almost all situations.
