Nvidia Optimus GPU State viewer is showing my gtx 460M being ON and there are NO APPLICATIONS LISTED using the GPU. So why its not switching on the integrated? My notebook is ASUS G53SW. Btw there is no setting in bios saying the nvidia gpu should be preferred and its still on when I disable windows aero.

The G53SW doesn't support Optimus. The only high-end notebooks that do are the Alienware M17x and M18x.

    Yep.

    1. Is your laptop a Alienware M17x or M18x?
--Yes: Then your laptop has Optimus.
--No: 1. Does your laptop have a GT card?
---------Yes: Then it probably has Optimus too.
------2. Does your laptop have a GTX card?
---------Yes: Then it does not have Optimus.

The next-gen Clevos, due in half-a-year, will join the Alienwares as being GTX-carrying laptops with Optimus support. I didn't look into any upcoming ASUS or MSI models yet.

Sorry I wasn't aware that only some notebooks have it. Thought all machines with i3 5 7 and a discrete graphics card can switch between the 2 cards. Now after I did a little research I've found out its not the case. :(

I thought the M17x/M18x didn't have Optimus but manual switchable graphics?

The m17x R3 may have it, but I don't think Optimus works with SLi.

I have optimus, and not an alienware. And it's a GTX? Is this some major exception?

No, you're right. I just forgot the Toshibas since they don't pop up here all that often. That's actually really stupid because my boss has the same one as you and I see it almost every day, haha.
