Just got a new Alienware M14X that uses Nvidia Optimus tech to save battery life. The second video card runs at 3 gb and the first at 64 MB. Processer runs at 8 GHz and has 8 GBs of ram. Whenever I try to start the witcher it says minimum requirments not met and does not open. I'm trying to find out how to force start the better video card. I have already patched the Witcher to the latest version and downloaded the latest drivers for everything. I also went into my BIOS to change whcih video card is the primary but under the main tab I can only change the date and time.

As i known its because your settings at nvidia control panel is incorrect. Set 3D settings>manage 3 D settings and select from list of preffered graphic processor from auto to high-performance Nvidia processor

Okey I set it to high-performance but I'm still getting the message that it doesn't meet minimum requirments. I also tried reintalling the witcher which did not work either.

I have the same thing happen to my m14x and my friend have the same issue on his M18x as well. We both upgraded to the newest drivers, didn't work so uninstall it and do the install from recovery still didn't work.

Try adding The Witcher to Nvida 3D managment still didn't work. Set laptop to run at full 3D and it didn't work.

Try The Wither on my Asus G53j A1 and it runs just fine. Tested the game on my old Acer 6950 and it runs fine.

I think the game just don't like the Alienware or something.

So, I think maybe it's optimus problem, its give information about VGA from intel card not nvidia, specification both m14 and m18 are more than good for this game. I GIVE you a info when installing game tomorrow on ACER 5742G with optimus too...

Well, after installed game it started and show message about incompitable driver version. Than I replace exe file from skidrow crack folder, started a game manually. Everything working fine. Maybe you need update your nvidia driver version to Nvidia Verde 275.33

Cannot get new drivers for this since they have to be from alienware to work.

I think the OP multiplied GHz by number of real cores in the Intel CPU.
    Mines 8,8 GHz. :3
    (Not)

Keep them Optimus away from gaming, or adopt a similar solution to what AMD and Alienware does on the m17x r3.

Im guessing you got the Intel Core i7 2630QM?
Lots of notebook owners here got that CPU and its working flawless for them.

Only hope here is to see if Nvidia releases a fixed Optimus driver and Alienware updates theirs to that. D:

Took me a few hours to get The Witcher working today. Incompatible driver, need admin priv denial, minimum requirements not met... I finally got it working with a variation of the -dontForceMinReqs solution. I'm wondering if it's an Optimus issue or if it just doesn't recognize newer GPU's, as in "late to the party and not on the list" kind of recognize... or a combination of both.

Has nvidia not added support for the M14x in their verde drivers yet?

Just ran a scan on Nvidias site it said: The manufacturer of this system requires that you download the driver for your GPU from their support site.

After you created a desktop shortcut to the witcher.exe in the system folder and added -dontForceMinReqs to the target line, did you ever see the file witcher.exe-MCE in the witcher's system folder? IIRC that is the one I modified by replacing the MCE with -dontForceMinReqs as a last ditch effort and it worked.

EDIT: Done, I had a free moment. :)

Im guessing you download the driver version from Nvidia, and start the installer.
Then once the actual installer starts, abort it and then extract the modified .inf into "C:\\Nvidia\GPU Driver".

You just need to download the same version Verde driver from nvidia.com / geforce.com, extract it and copy the nvdm.inf file from the zip to the Display.Driver folder of the extracted driver package, it'll ask to overwrite a file, allow it to, then run setup.exe to install.

The package can be extracted with any archive software winrar/7z etc.
Alternatively you can run the package installer, let it fail then navigate to C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\(package version number here)\Vista 64-bit\International to find the extracted files.

For a picture guide for all but the extracting click my Clevo modded inf link in my sig, the only difference in the guide is the name of the inf file.

I put your file in the area you talked about but it did not have a simierly file there to replace and the driver is the same version as the text file. So it revused to install.

    NVIDIA VERDE DRIVERS 275.33 WHQL

    NVIDIA VERDE DRIVERS 275.50 BETA

Use those ones, sounds like you downloaded the desktop version.

I did try the Nvidia verde driver 275.33 whql it did not work.
Just wondering would the steam version of the witcher work or would I still have this problem. Since I think Steam is selling it for $10.

If it's not asking to overwrite a file it's not being copied to the right directory, it needs to be dropped in the "Display.Driver" folder.

The steam version will run exactly the same as the non-steam.

I am having this problem I read though what was recommended and I know very little about Drivers so I am having a hard time understanding how to set-up .inf stuff. Also I think my drivers may be up to date anyway just because I just got my computer from dell 2 weeks ago. I have a XPS L702X. I can get the game to work doing no minimum check thing however that makes the game stuck on low texture setting. would installing the new driver or doing that .inf thing help me?

    thanks
