I do not really think that the 9400m GT can overheat that much... after all, it i an integrated chip.

Yeah most of the 9x series are soldered to the motherboard. E.g. (9200m GS and 9300m GS).

My Laptop also Supports Nvidia Geforce 130M GDDR3 card...Since its also meant for MXM2 slots using same power consumption of 23 watts....So, it really depends...ATI chips are also supported like thier 4000series have MXM 2

I would like to inform you that 9300M GS is a separate card and dont go by what windows tell you because I have 9600M GT and tells me integrated but I know its not...Before I had 9300M GS.........

Which is absolutely irrelevant to what anothergeek mentioned and what you claimed earlier (i.e. that the 9-series cores like the 9600 GT have exactly the same thermal soldering issues as the confirmed G84 and G86 problems).

Putting it baldly, you have a laptop that runs hotter than its peers and which isn't helped by the GPU that's sitting in the machine. Anything you claim otherwise isn't going to pass unless you provide hard evidence.

Personal anecdote, buying your replacement from Acer for an exorbitant price doesn't imply the 9-series GPUs have the same faults as the confirmed 8-series cards. I still agree with anothergeek, your GPU was likely faulty due to bad luck and a laptop that runs hotter than others. Up to now you keep saying you've done some research on the internet and come to the conclusion ON YOUR OWN that your GPU failure is related to the 8-series problems.

I'm not going to pursue this further since I was just interested to see where your internet source was for your initial claim about the 9600GT problem being identical to the 8-series soldering failures, since you think I'm baiting you and won't provide the reference I asked for I don't think I'll bother. You don't seem like you care much for other's requests if it doesnt' meet your wants.

I'm just wondering if 9400M should be blamed for the high heat generated for the SXPS 13 and the 13" Macbook. Some say those laptops get pretty hot.

I blame shoddy cooling design bundled with a tiny chassis.

My bad I appologise here and I am taking back what I had mentioned.....You know how it feels when a person spends so much of cash and deosn't get what he wants........Sorry for my previous post...

Just cant understand what to do now...Practically its impossible to sell the card...........

Do you think 40nm GPUs from nvidia will run cooler then what I have....Also, removing my current processor T5800 and changing to P9700 2.8GHZ will reduce the heat.....
Once again Sorry for previous post no hard feelings

    mmm...can i ask a question here.
    i was ordering a lenovo G430...with GF 9300M.

when I read it on http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-9300M-G.11359.0.html.

    they say
does that mean the 9300M is the same chip with GF 8400GS.
coz it's written there that 9300M still using 80nm fabrication :(.

The 9300m GS is more powerfull than the 8400GS, and much cooler. The 8400GS is known for overheat.

Yup. 8 series are just a faulty GPUs. 9300 GS is way better since it doesn't overheat...but isn't it a rebadged 8400 GS? If you can wait, the new 200M series GPUs are worth a look. Their lowest card (210M) is 10x faster than the Intel 4500 compared to the 9400M which is 5x faster.

There's also another Nvidia integrated GPU, the 102M.

Yeah, I have heard that too, but the 9300m GS got way better performance in CoD4 than the 8400m GS.

Read the link people. The 9300M G is a rebadged 8400M GS. The 9300M GS isn't.

The other two rebadged GPUs are the 9500M GS (8600M GT) and 9650M GS (8700M GT).

Sorry about that. Are you buying a lappie soon powerfull499? There's a lot of laptops now that sport the 100M series, while the 200M series are newly released. Soon, they'd make their way to the mainstream market.

And their top card, GTX 260M & 280M, are still based on the previous G92 core.

Nvidia and ATI should further develop their cards in the lower end section. All the focus I see is in the higher end of the spectrum.

Why was my post in this thread deleted? I said that you can't claim your GeForce 9 series aren't faulty because they've been functional for a whole year, since there hasn't been enough heat cycling to stress out their defectiveness yet. I believe I also mentioned watching hair follicles grow, perhaps I upset a moderator whose favourite hobby is such?

Not all 8 and 9 series are faulty. 8 series only has been out for around 2 yrs and the some of the 9 series are just rebadged versions. There has been plenty of time between now and then.
